Spring Pest Control DIY Advice

Hi

Spring has come and I already started to see some spiders popping out here and there, and my missus kept asking when I’m going to do pest control done.

I’ve never used the pest control except for spraying Morteins outdoor myself but I’m thinking this time I may organise it with professional service or do it myself.

Any recommendations how to purchase a non toxic pesticide or is it worth using pest control service or possibly Airtasker for cheaper option?

Spiders are good, they will eat the real pests.

  • Theres some type of bird that eats spiders, maybe get one

  • As an arachnophobe, myself, it is pointless trying to point out how illogical it is. We know that fact but it doesn’t help the phobia. The best option is figure out where they might be coming from. Do you have big gum trees, lots of garden waste, etc. cleaning up might be a good starting point. You can buy “bug bombs” that fumigate rooms. No open flames and follow instructions, particularly in relation to pets. We used these when we had a flea infestation problem. Once you hit a room it would be appreciated if you throw out any dead spiders.

In my case I can tolerate the little ones but big hairy ones I can’t even be in the same room with. My preference is my man dumps then, alive, in the garden. I don’t want them dead just not near me. We currently have one in our compost bin, which is fine by me if he is eating the flies.

We used to get the odd one but since we’ve replaced our weather boards with colorbond we aren’t seeing them.
