Optus Post Paid Deals?

Previously had 12 month $39 for $45 my plan plus with optus and now expired and gone back to $45.

Is there any special deals going at the moment for 12 month? Or what is the go-to now for plans?

  • how many gb do you get per month?

    • 30gb lmao

      • Much better deals atm and month to month, my 12 months is up next month and going up to $50, not sure about the bonus 20g data though, I currently have 100g

  • There's 20% off for regional areas for the first 12 months.

  • +1

I would say go for Boost but if you want Optus theres is $35 for 40 GB per month and $50 worth of flybuys. Its for new services only though.

    https://www.optus.com.au/flybuys

    • Or 60g for $49, 100g $59 depends how much data wanted

    • which boost deal?my plan is about to finish, phone is still fast, looking for a good sim plan, min 30gb/m,any deal out there?

  • you can build you own plan which if done correctly you can nab a decnt data package for similar prices.

  • I'm on an old $35pm sim only plan with 30gb of data. Went onto Optus live chat and asked nicely for a discount on the $49 60gb data plan, was denied, but was upped to 50gb of data for the next 24 months while still paying the $35pm. Jump on Optus chat and ask nicely if you can get a better deal.

    • I’ve been on Optus chat on three seperate occasions asking for a better deal and have been denied each time. On the last chat I was told point blank I would not get a discount. Currently paying $40 pm for 80gb of data. Best “deal” I was offered was the standard $49 with 60gb. I’d move to vodafone if they had better coverage.

      • $40 for 80gb isn't too bad, doesn't that plan also come with 4gb of roaming data?

        • Yeah I think it’s a good plan. Had unlimited standard international calls and text, unlimited standard roaming calls while overseas (zone 1) and the 4gb roaming data (zone 1). Won’t be using any of these any time soon and the 80gb is overkill for current needs. Was looking to reduce monthly cost to subsidise the purchase of a new phone. I’m not keen on the 36month HPP WITH month to month as once locked in with the handset they can do anything they like with the month to month plans.
I’ve been with Optus for a long time and have usually been able to swing a pretty good discount stacked with 10% student discount but even this can’t be done anymore.

@Whatsyoustory: They used to have a 20% discount fairly often, but I think you have a good deal none the less. I actually wanted to upgrade to that last year before my trip to Europe, specifically for the roaming data. The plan was more expensive, but because I was on a promo, I couldn't upgrade to another promo, Optus said I'd have to pay $122 to upgrade. I was annoyed and I didn't go ahead with it, and to teach them a lesson, I used some data while over seas and came back to a $275 bill. I showed them real good.

  • I just nicely asked for $10 credit on a $49 m2m sim only plan over the chat and the rep happily applied it over 24 months. This essentially bright the monthly fee to $39 (no lock in) with 60gb data, unlimited call and unlimited international calls to 35 countries.
So just speak to Optus sales rep on chat and ask for a monthly credit on the plan you want. YMMV.

  • I signed up on 12 month $40 on $50 My Plan Plus. This was about 16 months ago. I’m still paying $40 but I noted on my bill it states 24 month contract. I wasn’t sure if the discounts would stop or continue after the 24 months. It seems on your experience that I’ll loose the discount in 8 months?

  • They agreed to extend 20% off (so two numbers for $72 again) with no ongoing contract. That will do for now. Thanks for the replies!

    • Hey mate, I recently just lost my discount as well. Did you have to say something specific to get it re-instated or did they just offer it after a while?

      • Basically told them i had 20% off before and now i want it again and was peeved they had done a silent rollover. Cited fact that id been with optus since 2007 and would walk if nothing was done.

Expected them to tell me too bad but turned out ok.

        • Ahh fair call. Thanks mate!
