Issues with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and/or Kogan Internet?

Hello all
Recently been having frequent drop outs of internet entirely that have lasted anywhere from a couple of minutes up to an hour using the 5ghz channel of our Wifi modem (originally supplied by Aussie Broadband, but we have since switched to Kogan).

A few weeks ago I also discovered our 2.4GHz channel simply doesn't seem to exist any more. It's not being detected by Switch, mobiles, laptops, Xboxes or TV - despite the modem suggesting it is active - and have tried troubleshooting by restarting the modem several times but to no avail.

Is anyone else having these issues? Is the 2.4GHz issue potentially related to failed hardware? Or is it ISP related?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  • what kind of router do you have? Use Wifi Analyzer/Wi-Fi SweetSpots app to check the wifi signal strength. and are you living in apartment?

  • and have tried troubleshooting by restarting the modem several times but to no avail.

Reset as in power cycle or reset as in factory reset?

    Or is it ISP related?

    They don't control your wifi

Is the 2.4GHz issue potentially related to failed hardware?

Most likely if a factory reset doesn't fix the issue.

Is anyone else having these issues?

Nope just you. Factory reset your modem, if its still broken, then time for a new modem/router.

    • Possibly a dumb question, but will a factory reset change the passwords? We haven't changed them from the stock ones printed on the back of the modem since installing.

      • Factory reset will usually reset it back to the stock ones printed on the modem

      • Correct, It will change them back to the stock ones printed on the modem. But if you haven't changed them, that won't be a problem for you.

If resetting back to factory settings doesn't work and you still have a missing 2.4ghz wifi, then its most likely hardware. But a new modem/router.

        • Okay thanks. Will give it a go

  • +1

Both suggest time for a new router. Good luck fault finding
