I agree with stralya on this. Ring around and ask what they can do for a "decent" quality tyre for your vehicle. Some do catch special buys and pass the deal on. The specials are rarely advertised for some reason.
I usually call around then call my favourite tyre fitting place (happens to be a K Mart T&A) and they usually get them in and beat any price. Your local best may be a different outlet, just that the K Mart one here is very good.
The best tyre is not usually the cheapest as well.
I heard about this one on the radio yesterday: 20% off tyres at Repco if you have NRMA membership for November (or other corresponding interstate memberships)

REPCO does NOT sell tyres!
Costco has $50 off per tyre specials at the moment if that helps, they only sell Michelling and Bridgestones though.

Costco has an everyday low price.
But usually, I've found that if you call around, you do get a good deal over the phone. Beaurepaires (in my local area) promised to beat anyone's pricing.
