Looking for Vintage Cheddar Cheese Recomendations

Hi all,
I am looking for Vintage Cheddar cheese recommendations (with a nice bite of crystals) from any of the usual suspects (Harris Farm, IGA, Coles, Woolies et al)
I live in Sydney. Thank you and looking forward to the replies!!!

Give Snowdonia Black Bomber a go. Available at Woolworths.

Make sure you take it out of the fridge one to two hours before you want to eat it.

    • Any Brie recommendations?

I personally like the King Island Seal Bay Triple Cream Brie. This one always gets a wrap when I serve it.

@Flowerbomb: No worries, mate. You'll do well on both of those.

Woolworths actually stock some decent cheeses these days (at least around my area). Work your way through the "nice cheese" section there and you'll find some very handy offerings!

        • The King Island blue brie varieties are great too. I've eaten a ton of different blue brie in my time but I always come back to this given its consistency and price point. You'll find better, but it'll also be 3x the price.

  • I personally enjoy coon traditional cheese.

My favourite is Mainland Vintage Cheddar (24 months).
A close second is Bega Strong and Bitey Vintage (only 15 months but very tasty and usually cheaper than the Mainland).
If you are a cheese fan, you need to read Three Men in a Boat, and the cheese incident. "I remember a friend of mine, buying a couple of cheeses at Liverpool. Splendid cheeses they were, ripe and mellow, and with a two hundred horse-power scent about them that might have been warranted to carry three miles, and knock a man over at two hundred yards…"

Woolies have a great range of cheeses. Mersey valley is relatively inexpensive when on speical (currently on special right now for $5.50) and has a wide range of flavours. South cape is nice as well

  • Aldi have a nice one called Emporium vintage cheddar.
