Looks like a great deal on Messermeister chef's knife. CCC is showing this to be at a all time new low price.
From a quick google search, local stock is +$100.

    Messermeister is made in Germany and I suppose they are as good as the Victorinox

    about the same as the $10 synthetic ugg boots at kmart and woolies compared to natural sheepskin ones at $60 ……..

    buy a $4 kiwi knife and this one and check the edges, the $4 kiwi ones are made “ child safe” …not much of an edge on them,

  People looking to get into good knives could do a lot worse than starting with this.

  Much better idea than a Global set, for example.
