2020 New Toyota Camry Ascent Sport Hybrid

I am looking at buying 2020 Toyota Camry Ascent Sport hybrid and wondering if anyone has recently bought one and share their pricing and car experience?

I am quoted the same price as shown on the web and pretty sure few "k'" s can be taken off.

Note : based on many Oz-professional's recommendation, I am now looking for hybrid.

    I'm sorry to hear that.

      Is anything wrong with that?

      • +2

Not at all. Toyota Camry is the OzBargainers vehicle of choice.

  • You donโ€™t like hybrid or donโ€™t drive enough kms?

    • -1

It will be mostly driven in the city and not going to drive much.

      • +5

The city is where a hybrid works the best.

        • +2

on a related note - if it's mainly going to be driven in the city, why not consider a smaller car like a hatch or something? Camry would be harder to find parking for, and you'd have more usable load space in a hatch with folding rear seats.

          • +1

@andresampras: Camry is replacing the current Mazda 6 , so thought similar car would be better power wise.

            • +1

@manja: you'd be surprised by the power in turbo hatches these days.

              Mazda 6 with a liftback?

        • +1

thanks guys. will look at hybrid now.

    Sport

    Lol

    • It's used quite loosely these days. I think they actually mean "sporty". Like Pajero Sport(y) and Skoda Octavia 110tsi Sport(y).

      • +4

Bit of failure in this thread to realise that "Sport" doesn't means Sports, it means something is equipped. In which case an Ascent Sport is an Ascent with extra equipment.

        • +1

It's a 'Sports' Body Kit. The same thing with a few extra holes (filled with plastic trim) and body coloured rear bumper valance.

There's nothing sports functional about it, no spoiler, no splitter, no aerodynamics, no downforce generation. Nothing. Not even different interior.

          • +1

@Hybroid: except an extra inch in the screen..

    • +3

      How bout "SUV"?

Literally has the word sport in every one of them yet most of them will be for loading prams. Sports prams.

      • I believe 'sport' in SUV actually did mean sport though. The larger size provided ability to carry sports equipment (more space for sports balls, team kits, skis, surfboards etc.) hence 'sport utility vehicle'.

It has definitely been butchered lately though.

        • The large size provided ability to carry sports equipment (more space for sports balls, team kits, skis, surfboards etc.) hence 'sport utility vehicle'.

White pedo van is where it's at.

          • @[Deactivated]: Sports """Utility""" Van

There's a major shortage of new cars currently available in Australia, while you may get a small discount off RRP it'll be nothing like it used to be - up to 15%.

Some new cars are now advertised at up to $3000 more than at the beginning of the year.

You'll have more chance of getting mats, tinting, and other accessories thrown in for 'free'.

    • Unfortunately we just need to buy now as current is written off by the insurance. not may stock available too..

  • +4

Mate, Camry & Sport in the same sentence ?

    • +2

      lol

      • It's sporting extra equipment eg. spoiler.

    • Hey you, get back in here….

    • I want a baby…

2020 New Toyota Camry Ascent Sport Petrol

    God no

    • +2

Except, if OP was to just put "buying new toyota camry" everyone would jump down their throats saying, you need to give us model, year, fuel type and so on.

So as you said, god no.

  • +10

Funny. In any other thread asking which car, Camry is the answer. Ask about a Camry and everyone loses their mind.

    • +1

      Aurion in my case.

  • +6

Where is that dude from the Mustang post that is going to say "no" and then suggest something that is used, twice the budget, with completely different features and totally different configuration…

"Hey, OP, have you considered the 2016 Maserati Quattroporte GTS GranSport??"

  • +3

City driving, definitely look into hybrid/electric if budget is not an issue. You will spare the environment a little.

    • +1

      thanks. looking at hybrid now.

  • +4

Hybrid has the advantage of driving nicer as well, not just the fuel savings.

You'll save fuel, but note it requires premium (95RON), it's tuned for it.

Have driven both petrol and hybrid as work demos, and I just about halve my fuel consumption on the hybrid Camry vs the petrol.

    • +3

thanks. I am now looking at hybrid sport.

I bought the hybrid in the last month and paid $28.5k for it. I am normally good with negotiating a good price and thought dealers would be willing to negotiate at the moment with CV impacts on business, but this was not the case. Several dealers I spoke to just quoted RRP and weren't willing to entertain anything below that. One indicated that they only had on-hand stock and new shipments wouldn't be till the end of the year (don't know if this was true for all dealers or just this one). In the end $28.5k was the best I could do which was about $3k off rrp, probably similar deal on the petrol-only could be done.

EDIT: Gah, misread the original post. I bought a Corolla, not a Camry.

    • thanks. your post has given me an idea about the discount and current trend.

    • Good price

You want SPORT, yet want economy as well

    • sporty looking economical car :-)

Just updating that we bought a hybrid Camry and very happy with it.

    • Congrats on the car! Which model did you get?

Do you have a wait for the car to be delivered to you?

    • As long as you are happy with it! Good luck!
