Street release date broken for Galaxy Tab S7

So it's not a post about someone trying to get rid of their bird, or someone dropping the weights at 4:30AM and it lacks any kind of MSPaint drawings but I have a question about Tab S7+ and street release dates…

I pre-ordered the Tab S7+ from JB Hi-Fi who advised that the release date was this Friday unless the street date gets broken, and they can fulfil orders sooner than that. Anyway, sure enough, some guy in NSW (link here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyTab/comments/io18fp/got_my_ta…) got his yesterday.

I'm going to be near-ish to the JB tonight so if I could pick it up sooner that would be ideal, but I called JB and told them that it had been released already and there was very little interest in checking if there was a revised date or not. I know if JB is the one to break the street release date, then they get a smack from Samsung so there is literally no reason for them to release it before Friday. But, when these things happen, can anything be done to get JB to fulfil a preorder sooner than the release date they have available? Or not really?

Has anyone had their preorder fulfiled yet? If so, did you show any particular information to fulfil that?

    Mine's onboard with the courier for delivery today, pre-ordered through Samsung AU, didn't use the education site because it didn't come with the cover and the reduced costs were negligible.

      Ah cool, enjoy your device :). That's the thing - people are getting their devices so you would think that JB would allow pre-order fulfilment from now as well, but there's not been any interest in that.

      EDIT: What state are you in? I know a guy in NSW got his early.

        When will I get my pre-order?
        Due to strict supplier embargo, pre-order products may often only be shipped 1 day prior to the official release date. At the check-out, you will be offered the delivery >options eligible for your selected pre-order item.

        1 day prior might give slight hope for arrival on Fri!

      Wow nice! Mine is sitting in "processing order" in JB, so i guess if they don't ship early then it'll arrive next week. Would like to know if anyone's JB order has progressed too.

          I got the S7 256GB Wi-Fi Mystic Silver (non-plus), been installing all my apps. I flip flop between Androids and Apples (currently on an iPhone and was using a Windows tablet) so took a while to get things set up, disable some Samsung apps, disable some Google apps. A few observations so far:

          • When the kickstand in the included base is opened and the keyboard is sitting underneath the kickstand (say you're lying in bed for example doing light browsing or watching something with Tab on your chest) the physical keyboard does get disabled but the on-screen keyboard won't appear at all unless you explicitly enable it (so it turns on when the physical keyboard is active as well), research reveals this has been an issue since the S6 - annoying because I never planned to remove the keyboard.

          • Dex mode looks interesting but it doesn't support Lastpass so I'm going to be looking for a new password manager. Firefox is my browser of choice and it's good that you can install the uBlock Origin extension but I can't make a bookmark toolbar appear, I disabled Chrome and the included browser so I might enable them and do some more testing.

          • Lastpass is pretty broken in general, I don't know if it's like this on all modern Androids but I did all of the recommended settings and it works only 50% of the time (compared to iOS 100% and my previous Android a Pocophone F1)

          • Audio is great and the screen looks fantastic with the higher refresh rate, I'll bet the plus looks even better with its larger amoled.

          • Onenote works great with the S-Pen and is pressure sensitive which is a relief because that's what I'm using for notes across various platforms.

          • Excited to try out the Parsec beta to stream from my desktop, haven't had a chance yet. I prefer the platform compared to nvidia/limelight or steamlink.

          EDIT: I'm in Victoria, it was shipped yesterday with premium Startrack and arrived today from NSW.

            @juzza87: The keyboard being disabled when flipped underneath but not actually enabling the software on-screen keyboard is an annoying one. If the keyboard is fully folded flat up against the back cover, THEN the onscreen keyboard activates automatically. But if it is even 1 degree opened (with the kickstand out for example and using the back of the keyboard as a flat surface) then you have to manually enable the software keyboard.

            Changing the functionality of this should be very easy for Samsung. Clearly they can already detect when the keyboard is flipped and disable it, just needs to go one step further and enable the software keyboard automatically.

            I use 1Password instead of Lastpass, seems to work well but haven't tried it in Dex yet. I use Samsung Internet though as my primary browser, as it supports a global night mode, much easier on the eyes when reading web pages at night.

    It turns out that Samsung is posting devices directly to people are are breaking their own street release date, but not allowing vendors like JB etc to sell it earlier than Friday. Which I think is really lame, but there are definitely bigger things in the world to be worried about.

      If I were Samsung I'd pays someone to figure out which of the customers that preordered are most likely to leave a good review and have the most followers on social media. Anyone likely to leave nasty reviews or drop test them, have the algorithm ship to them last.

    I wouldn't be too surprised if it is because they are scared of things arriving terribly late due to COVID-19.
    I had two parcels that got lost (took them like extra 2 weeks or more).
    Be fair, I didn't pay for the fast shipping, so eh.

    That said, people are saying theirs arrived, mine didn't arrive today even though I ordered from Samsung.

    I got mine today from Samsung. Although there has been a delay on the keyboard for me. So gotta wait on that part

    JB advised me that my S7+ online order is delayed due to "extremely high demand" :( And that i should be receiving it next week. I asked them if i can switch to picking it up in-store if that means getting it quicker, and they said stock for WA stores are all already sold to customers. Maybe it's just for the model i ordered.

        That's exciting!

        I preordered it on 28/8, just after it went up on the JB website.

        JB sent another update saying that my order is now delayed until the end of the month! Their website said late-September deliveries only apply to preorders placed from 9/9 for my model. Guess it's not first-come first-serve for me. I called Samsung about my preorder situation with JB, and unfortunately they don't have any available stock near me either.

        Will have to wait and just hear how you and others are enjoying it first until mine arrives!
