  • I've been looking at this tool but not sure whether the 180mm or 250mm would be more useful — what do you guys think?

    • i use the 7" and 10" a lot i don't think the 12" has ever left the toolbox yet. its just to big for most jobs i use them for.

    • I bought 250mm one. The 180mm one is too small for me. Otherwise I would buy one from this deal.

    • I found that I use the 180mm for around the house due to its compact size. So would pick the 180 if you only want to purchase one.
The 250mm I've only used for auto / plumbing fixtures etc. but this gives much more leverage.

  • FYI this was an amazing price of $61.50 w/prime for the Chrome 180mm a few days ago. Might drop to that price again. And same with the 250. Was $82 for the 250

    • +1

      $75.67 < $82

      • Sorry I meant the Chrome version. 86 03 250. The black tool finish 86 01 250 is actually $72.44 now. Few days ago $68.15

        • This is the chrome 8603250.

  • Any good set of long nose pliers for those hard to reach clips??

    • +1

SCA have their Toolpro range - there's a couple of pliers with extra long handles and they work great. E.g. the bent nose version:-

They often have 50% off the range so worth looking out for. I bought the straight nose version first and was so impressed bought the bent nose version at the next sale. Sturdy and more than capable of handling tight clips or twisting tight bulb holders where your hand can't fit.

      • Thanks, will look into them.

    • If its for that once off stubborn job, just get the cheaper ToolPro / Trojan long nose pliers.

If you want a set to keep for life $115 Knipex Long reach pliers

      • I thought that too but was genuinely impressed with the ToolPro ones. Some of their stuff is a bit average but these have stood up to quite heavy use including stuff you should never do to pliers like twisting, levering etc etc.

Would love Knipex though but have to pick my tool/$$$ battles carefully.

  • Thanks OP, got a 10 inch one

  • Are these really that good over a traditional adjustable spanner or set of spanners to warrant the price? I love Knipex but that's a little pricey for one single tool.

    • I love mine more than any other tool in my always growing toolbox

    • +1

Yes I just used Mine today and wow big difference over the old faithful adjustable spanner, almost a full spanner set in your pocket.

And you would want it to be for the price lol….

  • 7inch/180mm version and with comfort grips for $65
