Apply credit card from interstate bank

Just wondering if possible for someone to apply credit cards from a bank that out if their home state? Ie you're in NSW and apply a CC from Bank of Melbourne or Bank of Queensland?

I'm running out of options to get 1st year fee free (or discount annual fee) CC with bonus points from the big 4 ANZ , Westpac and St George - NAB's promotions have very high fee so not interested in them.

Have you tried their respective websites

These banks obviously don't have websites or phones for their customers to call. lol 😁

      • The reason I asked because i like to know how they going to do ID verify. I guess someone in ozb community have done this before. Someone told me they could do ID at post office.

        • If you’re an Australian citizen they can most likely do online verification from your passport and drivers license. If you’re a PR they can do it from your PR card and drivers license. I churn cards for rewards and have yet to go into a physical branch.

          • @justdigi: I've applied CC from StG, ANZ, WP, 28 degrees, CitiBank, CBA .

ANZ, no problem because I'd home loan & trans account with them.

StG , WP & CBA: must go to branch to ID. That was approx 2yr ago so not sure if they still do.

            CitiB: online verification.

28: ID at Post - may be due to verification process 5+ years ago.

            I'm an Australian citizen.

    Yes.

  • Should be fine. Plus there are some BOQ branches in Sydney.

    • Melbourne too.

BoM is just a subsidiary of Westpac.

St George & BoM are the same. I had to go to a BOM for a St George card when i lived on vic. Possibly might have same systems if you're credit card shopping.

    • Thanks WreckTangle. Then I probably go to StG to verify for BoM application.

    • I had a BankSA card issued on/linked to my StG accounts a few years ago.
