Amazon Did Not Charge My Debit Card

I subscribed to a few pantry items on Amazon. They were due to be delivered on September 1 but they were delayed because my debit card ran out of funds as a scheduled payment failed. On August 27 I got an email from Amazon saying that my card had been declined and to update my card details. I transferred funds to my card and got amazon to try the transaction again. Today I got another email from Amazon saying that the items in the subscribe and save order were dispatched, but when I checked my debit card account the funds that I tranferred on August 27 are still there. Is this meant to happen?

I used a bank of melbourne debit card and a westpac debit card to pay for the items.

Jeff Bezos will have to wait to purchase his next ivory back scratcher.

  • Just wait. I'm sure they'll take it out eventually. If not, wait longer.

  • They will charge you in couple of days, happened to me twice and in both times I contacted the customer support after adding funds. They told me not to worry and it will charge in couple of days.

  • They keep charging me twice - one is an authorisation and it can take over 7 days to disappear.

    • I've only been charged once. It might be related to the bank you use.
