  • being after a bargain, why would you bother getting them the 32gbs?

id get 3 x 8gb for around $200 each, im sure they can manage the size difference.

8gb is simply too small for a media device like an iPT if you want to store anything more than 1 movie, 20 games and 500 songs. Minimum 32gb I personally recommend

say you had 3 daughters, 8, 12, 15. would you really buy all of them 32 gbs if you were looking for a bargain?

  • Thankyou

  • I bought an 8gb ipod touch, however as you can only access 6.5gb of that, I used it up really really quickly, and wished I had bought one with a higher capacity. you might be interested in this deal from Target - not cheaper but a bundle of goodies added in for about $20 more. That bundle offer only applies to Shuffle, Nano and Classic. Maybe you mean this bundle?:

Personally I don't think 8GB is enough for an iPod Touch - I would go for a larger capacity, there is nothing more annoying than running out of space. I'd only get 8GB if that all my budget would allow.

JB have the 32GB for $307, but if you were buying 3 units I would try for a deal.

      • yep thats the one! I thought both the bundles were on that link -oops; thanks!
        And I agree with you.

  • iPod Touch only come in silver, with a dark (black) screen. You will need to get some black cases.

I agree that a 8GB is not enough in an iPod, because of the inability to use MicroSD etc

Well, Derr - I mean that the IPOD itself (body) is silver. If the OP wanted a black one, they'd hardly be interested in the models that have a silver body and a white screen, would they?

However, for the literacy challenged I will re-word it to make it even more clear…

iPod Touch only come in silver, BUT YOU CAN BUY A MODEL with a dark (black) screen. You will need to get some black cases IF YOU WANT A BLACK IPOD.

  • yeah, but take in mind its for kids. and OP wants a bargain.

  • All the apps that you can use on iPhones, can these also be used on iPod Touches (obviously not wanting call/sms related apps)? And would there be a difference between the generations? Would the second-latest generation iPod Touches run all apps like I'm assuming the latest gen ones can?

If so, I'd like to know of some iPod touch bargains, not fussed on size, don't listen to much music on the go. It'd mostly be for the apps.

    • The apps that require location data (gps) won't work properly on the touch. Otherwise, yes they all basically work on both.

2nd latest generation of touch is the 3rd gen. Yes it'll run most apps fine, maybe some of the newer and more intensive apps might be a little slow but shouldn't be that big a difference.

      • Thanks a lot Trance N Dance, that was mighty helpful :)

    • The 4th Gen Touch is the only one with a camera. There's some other good extra features too. And the screen is higher resolution (960x640) and it's thinner too.

The 3rd Gen can still be used on iOS5, so they are still supporting it at the moment. The 2nd Gen is basically no longer supported, so stay away from those.

With iOS 5, there is a feature called iMessage which allows the iPod to do SMS-like messaging.

Here's a good Wiki article that explains the differences http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod_Touch

I must agree that 8GB is too small. I am using a 16GB iPhone and there is more than 8GB of apps on it. OK, the GPS app is 850MB, but the other 8Gb or so is not really all that many games, etc.
