Looking for Recommendations for Monitors to Connect My MacBook Pro 13" Early 2015 as Well as My Work PC (DELL Latitude 7390)

Hi,

So I've been working from home for the last 6 months due to covid and have been able to borrow monitors and docking station to connect my work laptop (DELL Latitude 7390) to the monitors. But now they are trying to get everyone back in the office and may considering flexible working arrangements but it means I have to return the borrowed work equipments.

So I'm looking to get 2 monitors that I can buy to use at home. My personal laptop is a Macbook Pro 13" early 2015 model so I would like to get monitors that I can use to connect my Macbook as well as my Dell (not at the same time).

Can you please provide any recommendations? I'm not looking for anything too expensive but still good quality and will last a while.

Thanks
Ina

  • Dell U2720Q or the previous model, the U2718Q

    • That's quite pricey - especially if I get two, are there any recommendations for ones slightly cheaper (under $500)?

      • 1/2 of one

      • I just bought the U2720Q, but got it on the dell outlet for $689 - I was happy to pay a premium because of the USB-C.

Have you checked out the Dell outlet? It was just updated today with [some pretty good deals for 27" monitors] (https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/shop/monitors?screen_size=…)

Otherwise also check out the eBay plus sale - there are a bunch of monitors discounted with the PARTY21 code.

How big were the previous displays that work provided? And have you considered an Ultrawide Display over a dual screen setup?

    • these are popular. Better than 2 side by side screens

    • I think the ones i have from work are Dell U2412M 24 24" UltraSharp Monitor.

  • So I have one 32" LG monitor 1440p. https://www.lg.com/au/it-monitors/lg-32GK650F-B . don't buy anything under 1440p for this 27" and over.

I was coming from a perspective of using one big monitor instead of two. Yeah this is pricey. OP wants 2 I reckon.

  • I don't mind if it's one big screen i guess. I can always arrange the windows on the desktop. I just want to be able to swap between my personal laptop (macbook) and my work laptop (dell) without having different monitors. I have 2 apple display but not sure if I can connect this to my DELL.
