  • Misread the description. Thought it was 5 power outlets.

Likewise. Badly written, but not op fault as it's copy&paste from the link

    • Yeah that’s a weird way of wording things. I thought that too.

  • Forgot to include shipping?

    • yeah. Just realized $13 cheapest to Sydney. Shame. I would have bought it

      • +2

        Umart has it for $49

Does it have coil whine? Bought hs110 before and coil whine drived me nuts.

    • +4

If a Genie ever offered me 3 wishes eliminating coil whine from every electronic device would use up one of them.

    • +1

Wouldn't that be covered under warranty? I have 10 units and none have coil whine. Two units failed and replaced under warranty without issue.

      • What do you normally use these devices with - just curious ?

        • I have them attached to heaters, washing machines, dryers and an air conditioner. I also have sonoff devices hooked up to an irrigation pump, a dehydrator and an incubator. The sonoffs have temp and humidity sensors

  • +1

Can you independently control each of the built-in USB ports too?

    • "2 always-on USB ports"

      So, no.

    • +1

This may sound like a stupid question, but what would be the point of turning a USB port off?

      • +1

For any powered item that uses USB? for instance, if your diffuser, air dehumidifer etc ran on USB power and you wanted to be able to control their power state via a smart device with your voice?

        • Ahhh, yeah OK, that makes sense I guess.

        • +1

Except most usb powered devices don't have a constant on power states…?

Bought one of their adapters on sale and could not for the life of me get it connected to my wifi network. It simply wouldn't connect to my TP-Link router, with no explanation as to why it was failing. After trying to troubleshoot and seeing similar issues being raised by quite a number of people online, I've decided to take it back for a refund.

Hopefully other buyers will have a much better experience setting it up, but a word of caution nonetheless!

    • i have a couple of these set up around home but didnt experience any issues setting it up or connecting, but I do have what I would consider a fairly decent wireless network so its possible this is why.

    • I've got a few (older) HS100 plugs and they only work on the 2.4 GHz band. Not sure if that's still the case but maybe your network is 5 GHz only?

      • I've got both 2.4 and 5 GHz set up and was trying to connect to the 2.4, but it kept failing without any real ability to troubleshoot. It's a pity, but with luck the later versions have eliminated these strange problems

The WiFi smart plug/strip has been in the market for a while now but is still a niche product and overpriced. The smart power strip really needs to drop below $20.

I would prefer this one but unfortunately not offered in Australia

    https://www.kasasmart.com/us/products/smart-plugs/kasa-smart…

It has power monitoring. KP303 isn't.

  • New to this wifi power boards.

May I ask if Connect a regular floor lamp to this, I can control the light to switch on or off, by voice through google nest mini?

    • +1

Yes, you can. Set it up in the TP-Link Kasa app, give it a name and link Kasa to Google home.

      • Thanks mate. This might be a good time For me to dive into These kind of gadgets since I’m staying home alot recently

NEW Cygnett Smart Wi-Fi Plug 10A + Power monitoring - AU | Smart Socket

eBay recommended this to me. 25% off at $26 free shipping. Not sure if good deal.

  • I have one of these it works well, easy to setup with the Kasa app and turn things off on remotely or on a schedule. 3 power points is OK but 6 would be way better.

  • +1

I have 3 of these now and love them, Kass app is fantastic, shame I was too slow on the Deal.

    • Damn, same!

  • Does the app allow you to set this on a timer? ie 12 hours on, 12 hours off?

    • Yes you can, set schedule, timer and away mode. Functionality of app is excellent.
I have mine turn off some gear at midnight and back on at 6am.

  • is the app any good?

    • Better than the Xaomi and Mirabella apps I have but I don't use it much as I tend to control it all through Google Home.

  • noo i missed this deal…

  • It’s back to $39

  • $13 shipping to sydney bah!

  • Keen, but not with that shipping cost (around $14 to Brisbane). Tried to get JB HI FI to price match without shipping - no go.

Will wait for some sort of sale with local stores, hopefully will come down to a similar price.

  • still not shipped yet.. hopefully not too far off.
