Thank you all for your feedback.

In response to warranty issues raised by OzBargainers in our recent posting, we would like to clarify our policies in regards the issues raised.

For Returns and warranty: http://www.mwave.com.au/promo_free-warranty-return.asp
1. Mwave will bear the cost of freight for all approved warranty claims that are being returned back to Mwave.
2. A service fee of UP TO $50 is charged ONLY when a product is found not to be faulty ie. the fault cannot be replicated by either our test bench or the supplier/manufacturer. Therefore the service would vary depending on the value of the product as well as time spent on testing the faulty product.
3. If you are 100% confident that the fault exists ie. dead pixel on your monitor, dead PSU then you should not be deterred in submitting a warranty on the product. Please also bear in mind that Manufacturers also have policies that all IT resellers tend to follow in order to expedite warranty claims/refunds
4. Some manufacturers have a consumer direct support/warranty service which is generally quicker than coming through any reseller, Mwave is obligated by Consumer Law to honor warranty for any products purchased through Mwave if the customer decides they prefer dealing with Mwave.
This Law applies to ALL resellers and those resellers that do not follow should be reported to the OFT & ACCC

Order Pick Ups – http://www.mwave.com.au/faqs.asp?
1. All order pick ups are communicated by email notifying the customer that their order is ready for pick up
2. We do not call customers to pick up unless they have not picked up their order 2-3weeks after the email was sent
3. At times it may be difficult to provide an instant pick up service due to the processing of online orders

If you would like resolution to a problem or have a complaint then please forward your email to [email protected] and I will personally address those issues for you.

if this deal wasn't from Mwave, i might have given it a +ve…

    • What's wrong with Mwave?

      • +12

        what's right with them…

i ordered from them once before… delivered faulty product, wanted me to pay for return postage, wanted me to pay $50 if 'they' decided it wasn't faulty… (and wasn't even worth $50)

        never again…

        • +9

Same here. I once bought LED monitor from them, it came with dead pixel. Wanted me to pay postage and $50 if its not faulty.

          Never ever again.

        • +2

Same here, but i would have -neg if i could…

        • +1

this is for an SSD though… chances of getting a dud are pretty low, dont you think?

        • +6

          dont you think?

i didn't buy a disk of them, it was another product…

anyway, they probably rank up there as one of the worst customer experiences for me…

(ps. how many neg votes are Reps allowed to make on comments to their deals???)

        • +2

I too would avoid MWave. Similar story as above. Won't -ve though, as the deal seems OK.

        • +2

Same happened to me with a samsung dvdrw, not worth returning, it went in the bin.

        • +1

owenhwh, there have been numerous issues with SSDs, OCZ ones in particular. They are also hard to diagnose, some will cause your PC to stutter and hang, others will trigger a BSOD. For example, http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/06/22/ocz_vertex_flash_bso… and http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2011/07/08/ocz_bsods_ongoin… (or just search for "OCZ BSOD" in your engine of choice). My point, would you trust Mwave to take it back without fuss if it was causing you issues?

jv, one reason why I liked seeing who negative voted when this was around. Useful to see if a rep is trying to downplay criticism without responding to it. You've posted the deal Mwave, can you back it up and comment on the criticism here? Given the attitude I've received so far, probably not.

        • PCCG have done the exact same thing with me. Furthermore on trying to return the package they had given me an incorrect address and the package ended up sent back. At this point I gave up (on PCCG and computer parts online in general).

"this is for an SSD though… chances of getting a dud are pretty low, dont you think?"
I got a dud ocz solid 3 ssd from mwave, i paid for shipping to my place, of $13.95, had reply paid return back to mwave a few weeks later, then I was charged another $13.95 for the replacement ssd, after a month of hassles,… Never dealing with mwave ever again.

        • wow, i didnt know about these probs.. i must be living under a rock! >.< my bad.

        • "we would like to clarify our policies in regards the issues raised."
"Mwave will bear the cost of freight for all approved warranty claims that are being returned back to Mwave."

Yet other people have not experienced this from mwave. I never received that bloody coupon they claimed me either.

      • +1

I also had a terrible experience with their customer service. Got a call telling me stock was ready, I said I'd come in and pick it up and the CSR told me he would cancel the order and let me pick it up. Turn up in store and the item in stock but has gone up in price. Since the order was cancelled they couldn't honour the original price (only a difference of $5 max).

The best part of it? I couldn't talk to anyone in store about my issue, I had to jump on one of their desktops and talk to someone via a web-chat.

That aside, I signed up for their newsletter a while ago under the premise I would get a $5 voucher as well, all I got was their daily newsletter and no voucher.

Everyone I've spoken to has had a poor attitude. Parking is a nightmare too, seems to be 1 visitor carspace if you're lucky.

Good price but if you decide to buy, keep one eyebrow to the ceiling.

        • +3

Their newsletter subscriptions are the biggest form of rubbish I've ever seen. I receive 1-3 deals per day from their newsletter. I've never received so much spam.

      • i havent got an issue with them…. have only ordered once but item arrived pretty quick. No dramas.

        • +2

have only ordered once but item arrived pretty quick. No dramas.

the problem is when you do have issues… that's when the dramas start…

they act like it's your fault that they sent you a defective product…

if the product works as it should, yes, it shouldn't matter who you get it from… Personally, I've even found dealextreme better to deal with…

Total came to $110.95 for shipping to 2604, which is still cheaper than Staticice

  • is this faster than corsair m4?

hang on - nvm - agility 3 not vertex 3

    • Vertex 3 is not much faster than Agility 3. Both faster than M4 in raw read/write speed.

      • +1

M4 is more reliable though than any drives with Sandforce 2 controllers.
Sandforce 2 controllers appear to be very unreliable.

  • should I change it for my thinkpad x200? Big diff between SSD and normal HD?

    • +1

yep big difference, but small capacity

  • +1

This is SATA3 as well. So if you don't have SATA 3, you are limited to 300 MB/s read/write

    • +1

Lol, it's funny how some people might actually be bottle necked by SATA II. Not many HDDs/SSDs can get past the 300MB/s read/write mark anyway.

+ve from me though, even if Mwave is crap.

  • +3

Avoid any SSD with the Sandforce 2200 series controllers including this one.

The HDD causes your system to BSOD and freeze. I returned mine because it crashed all the systems I tried it in. OCZ's forums are full of people complaining and they can't seem to fix it.

    • +5

the main issue here with this deal is that you are supposed to return it the place of purchase, and based on mwave's history, it is not going to be a pleasant experience…

      • +2

Yep totally agree Mwave need to seriously look at the way the handle returns if they are to grow in the online. I for one won't be buying from the based on my experience.

    • True, but i believe that the new firmware update that was released today (possibly) fixes these issues

      http://techreport.com/articles.x/21934/2

      • Firmware 2.15 doesn't fix the freezing.
It reduces the BSODs but all systems still freeze.

  • +1

I have report problems with this model, so have many people in various forum. Yet many people just consider the cheap price and want to buy this thinking that they will not so unlucky. The fact is, with the latest firmware, it is more stable but still have intermittent faults.

    • I have report problems with this model, so have many people in various forum.

that's probably why mwave are trying to dump them at cheap prices…

mwave haven't mentioned any of these problems and when you click on the support link, it just points you to OCZ and has phone numbers listed as N/A… mwave just want to take your money and when your drive fails, they'll just say go to OCZ…

  • +3

Hm… I was intially excited at the idea of $100 for a new SSD (even just for a media centre boot/system drive) but all the Mwave stories have effectively guaranteed I won't be wasting my time (or money).

Thanks OzBargainers for helping me dodge a bullet :)

lol did you learn your generic-response-skills from Scoopon?

      • +3

It's just that kind of personal service that keeps customers coming back.

    • +2

You've posted this four times on this page. Are you a bot or something?

Edit: and can you do the robot dance?

  • +1

I must admit that I haven't read them all, but it looks like Mwave has spammed the same "Thank you all for your feedback" response four times in one page, and within a couple of minutes.

There are times when copy/paste just makes you look stupid, and Mwave's managed that pretty well now. So many ways to have provided this information and they chose spam.

    • +5

Generic -ve for all mwave deals due to poor customer service and spam.

  • +4

I was considering buying this, but after reading the negative comments and the fact that Patrick from Mwave has made himself (and his company) look like an ass by posting the SAME reply four times on the same page (I mean, come on, seriously?!?) I'm definitely going to be avoiding this company. Doesn't give you much confidence that they're going to give you personalised, quality after-sales service.

  • I count 5 times if you include the description. I would love to make a complaint, but what good would it do to me? I'd waste my time detailing the issue, probably get a canned response like the above, and if anything, only help your company.

I insisted I would not make a complaint after my ridiculous experience given it would be at the cost of my time (again) and the benefit of yours. I've even refrained from mentioning it on previous MWave deals but it's clear that there are many others with similar experiences.

Other online stores have received criticism at OzBargain in the past, but none have dealt with it quite so poorly. Some reps can turn it into a positive thing, others just draw the ire of the community.

    • +1

haha nice one, you're right, he's posted the same response FIVE times! :O
