Best Value Car Care Products?

I've a 25 year old car that I want to preserve. There are lots of quite expensive car care products out there. Any recommendations for brands that do the job for the least cost?
The front duco particularly seems thin and I'd like to build it up against insect impacts.

I find water and an arm do the job

You don’t even own a car do you…

If you want thin paint built up you probably need more paint. Most polishing products will cut the paint, making it thinner.

When you say you want to ‘preserve’ it, so you mean keep it running well or keep it looking great?

Bowdens Own for car care products. Australian made, available at local auto stores and works very well. A coat of wax isn't going to do much against physical impacts though. Consider paint protection film (PPF) for some protection.

+1 for Bowdens. They have everything you need, from the cleaning product you want, to the correct applicator. I use a lazy wash and wax which smells like delicious banana lollies and the water just beads off. Their wheel cleaner, wheely clean, is one of the most satisfying cleaning products I've used. My wheels are a bit of a pain in the ass to clean and their stuff makes it a breeze. I've got a nice collection of their products, and they are frequently on sale for 25-30% off, from your major places like Repco, AutoBarn, Super Cheap etc.

    • I'll definitely look into Bowden's and PPF. Thanks.

From my understanding, Meguairs is pretty decent and better than ArmorAll. If you're on reddit, I'd check out the sub /r/autodetailing. It can be a little US-centric, but there's solid stuff on there including brand recommendations.

  • I'm quite of fan of the rain. Seems to do a reasonable job on the exterior for zero effort and cost

    • I just leave the roof open on my cabriolet when it's raining. Double win.

  • Sounds like you need the products and process in this video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFXfSBR5Q9w

  • Nu Finish.
