Review Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G Purchase from TobyDeals

Hi All,

Thought I'd just a give quick review of how my purchase went from Tobysdeal.

I was pretty hesitant to purchase from them to be honest, especially for such a high priced item.

Basically I got the S20+ 5G snapdragon model for AU$1,063.05 (plus I used shopback).

I'm not going to review the phone cause I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I made the purchase on the website on the 1st of September, and the money was deducted immediately.
I received an update that night my order was being prepared.
2 days later I received 2 emails, the first saying my order was shipped and the second with tracking.
I used the basic free shipping, no insurance. Tracking is through DPEX and once it reaches Australia track it through Toll Global.
It was shipped from Hong Kong on 3rd September at night, and delivered to me in Melbourne (during lockdowns) on the 8th September. I thought it was incredibly quick.

The phone itself was fine, fully sealed. For what it's worth, it appears to be a Taiwan model. No issues at all, very happy with the product. This model also came with a clear case, which was handy considering I'll be using it only at home for the next month and a bit at least.

All in all, just letting people know my experience, as I said I was very unsure if I wanted to buy an import, however I had a great experience.

If you have any questions fire away.

Cheers

  • My only issue buying a 5G phone from HK or China where Tobydeals source their phones is that it doesn't have all the 5G bands that are available in Aus.
Otherwise I would love to buy the Snapdragon Version and not 100% sure if this will even be noticeable though.

    • yeah compared to aus model it misses 3 or 4 of the 5g bands, but the current telstra and optus ones are covered. Not sure how that will change in future and also Vodafone band isn't covered I believe

  • Did you get charged customs? And if not, did Tobys underdeclare?

    • didn't have to pay any duties. Toby's has some statement on their site that says you won't have to pay duties and they give a basic explanation. Whether that reason is legitimate or not I'm not sure.

I can only assume they probably misreport, no invoice with package.
