Should I Buy a Phone from AliExpress?

Hi, I've seen a deal for the Poco X3 NFC on AliExpress lately and I've been debating buying it because it looks to be everything that I need. But, I've never bought from AliExpress before and I'm not sure whether they are trustworthy or not. I would really appreciate your advice and past anecdotes about buyer experience, shipping, customer support and all that.

Note: I have reviewed the listing and it is legitimate (linked from the official Xiaomi website). I'm not looking for advice on the seller just the site itself.

Thank you.

Some people here would say it's fine. Some would say don't bother (me).

It's your risk, you decide if it's worth waiting forever, having no warranty and no customer service if something goes wrong.

    Good luck.

    • We won't get warranty from AliExpress itself but surely the seller (xiaomi official) will still honour a normal warranty? Shouldn't it just be the same as ordering from amazon (except from China)?

No, no it's not. There's no ACL or incentive for an abroad retailer to offer you warranty. Best case scenario, you'll need to post the item to them on your own accord which has it's own risks.

  • Ordered a Lenovo Z6 Pro. Took months to arrive. Not worth the trouble.

  • Just see read all the comments there and other similar post and decide, there are always people who pro and contra on almost anything in this world.

By the time you receive the phone the next iteration would have been released

  • have you ever shopped from AliExpress? I usually budget 2-3 months for deliver

This, it's good for random weird items you can't find anywhere else that you don't need anytime soon. You then forget you ordered them, and it like Christmas when they arrive, because you have no idea what the packages are or why you have them.

  • Just be prepared to wait 1-2 months for the item to arrive. To me, this is the main con of buying from Aliexpress.

Otherwise, the electronics I bought there have all worked fine.

  • I got my Xiaomi Mi 9T from Aliexpress, best price around, no issues so unsure how the warranty experience is.

  • shipping is a huge problem at the moment i could use e-packet method for my aliexpress orders and recieve around 20 days now its a joke it takes minimum 45-60 days if you get lucky

  • It's better to pay extra for DHL shipping method. Otherwise it would take forever to arrive to Australia. I ordered 3 small things in June and i received 2/3 early this month.
