Best PREPAID mobile plan for me?

Hi All! It's been a long time since I changed plans. Currently with Optus, but I need more data, and considering the price of prepaid with more data from Optus, I'll be changing providers.

NON NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to use my phone as a hot spot at any hour of the day. I do not have home internet, and I have no intention of getting home internet.

  • Must have uncapped daily usage

  • Must have at least 30GB per month, preferably more

  • Must cost no more than $40 per month, preferably less

  • Must be a company that runs through Optus or Telstra.

Pleaee don't suggest Amaysim, it does not work at all in my area at night (high usage time), regardless of it being Optus!

Thank you in advance!

      Isn't Boost with Vodafone?

      • +2

        No, full Telstra network.

        Nope. Telstra.

        Your probably thinking of Kogan

        • Correct, I was thinking of Kogan! Thanks for clarifying

+1 for Boost. Probably about to switch to their $40 prepaid with 30gb (+14gb for first 3 recharges). Full telstra network, decent 4g speeds, reasonable price. I used to be on boost but then switched to a pretty good value Telstra plan with 30gb data at $39 per month. That plan is obsolete at the end of this month though so swap time I think. Boost also gets one month of rollover, a nice bonus.

    Belong $40 40gb

And all data you don't use on Belong will roll over to the next months.
After a few months if you have accumulated excess data you can drop back to a cheaper plan for a while to use it up.

Belong is technically postpaid, not sure if they run credit checks

      • +2

No problem for me, I have no credit rating. Only street credit

Belong - even when your data runs out you can use it still but with slow speed. You can buy GB from members here for around $2 each or less or buy another half price sim, activate, gift yourself the data and cancel the sim

If you really want a prepaid plan, Woolworths on Telstra does 30GB on $30pm.

Otherwise I would suggest Belong as after you blow your data limit, you still have internet at capped speed

  • Thank you everyone! I have literally been with Optus for 22 years, and had no idea where to begin. I'll be checking out Boost and Belong and weighing up what's right for me.

Is there any app or anything that I can use to check data speeds in my area? For any provider, not just one that I own/use?

  • Thanks everyone, I've weighed up my options and have just ordered a Boost sim!
