We were subscribed members for this company for over a year. We didn't mind paying the extra cost (they were more expensive than any regular Coles/Woolies special) because 1) It makes me feel good when I make a donation, 2) It makes me feel good supporting local Aussie producers, 3) It is convenient having something bulky like this delivered.
Then came the pandemic, and as the shops ran out of toilet paper so did our regular delivery from WGAC suddenly stop.
It was strange that it stopped, as I thought being a subscription member meant we would not suffer from the same supply/demand shortages seen in the retail shops. Now, to be fair to WGAC, I did not investigate as to the actual reason their supply was interrupted. The only web page I could find on it is here https://blog.whogivesacrap.org/home/goodnews/stock-updates where they don't give any reasons.
After that I ended the subscription. In doing research for this blog I also discovered that they (recently??) moved their production to China https://support.whogivesacrap.org/hc/en-us/articles/36003564…
So, I'm not downvoting this post, but now I buy 'regular' brand names, on special, made in Australia and I make my own informed donations to charities that are important to me.

    • Whoah. Did not realise they had moved production there. We didn't miss out at the start of the pandemic. May have been lucky though.

Thanks for sharing this, had no idea. The main reason why my wife subscribed was for the fact it is based on recycled paper. Knowing that China has not been recycling our wastes for a while now, they must be using Chinese wastes which is less attractive. Also considering the CO2 associated with shipment, I don't really see the point anymore. I may be missing something though…
