(Recommendation) A Desk Lamp for Home Office?

Can anyone recommend me a good quality desk lamp for my home office? Something that I can read under for long hours at night, helps with eye-strain or eye fatigue (to some extent anyway) and if it looks nice (and minimal) then it's a great bonus.

I was looking at the "BENQ WiT lamp" but it's ~$320, and I haven't seen it ever come on sale so far (it's bit too pricey for me to be comfortable with at it's RRP at least)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I like the Taotronic lamps. You can search past deals here to see if there is any you like.

Got the TaoTronics TT-DL16 and it's a great LED light. Seems to be very well made and is nice and bright

Since COVID-19 though the days of getting it for under $100 are over

I was looking at the same Benq, I like the fact it could be converted to a floor lamp (albeit with an expensive addition to an already expensive lamp) and have had it on my Amazon wishlist for some time but have never seen it discounted and I'm not willing to pay full price for it. I've actually just bought a Taotronics but haven't receive it yet. The problem I've found with desk lamps is many if not most seem to be ultra cheap in construction and materials yet not priced cheaply. Hopefully the Taotronics is adequate.

Happy with my Xiaomi Mi LED Desk Lamp 1S. Bought it when it was recently on special at PC Byte Australia ($69, OOS now), but you can get it for a similar price on eBay. Haven't been able to connect it to the Mi Home app, but not a big deal for me. It just feels like a solid, well made desk lamp.

  • The Taotronics ones seem to be pretty impressive. I am also on the lookout for one. Would love the ability to dim it easily enough, or even change the colour (reduce blue light at night, that kind of thing).

What did you end up going with OP?

    • I've had the one I ordered (TT-DL22) for a few days now and so far am happy with it. Colour matches my set up nicely and it has 3 colour temps and 6 brightness levels. The only thing I would've liked to have, and it's minor, is for the base to swivel.

      • Easy to change the colours? I just really want to be able to make it dimmer and less blue light at night time when I'm on my computer.
Where did you get it from? Taotronics don't seem to have an AU site. Seems to be only Amazon.

Yes, there's basically an on/off touch pad, another that cycles through the 3 colour temps (achieved via 2 sets of LEDs so each on and both on to mix the colours) and 6 for the brightness (but you can treat it as a slider or just touch the one you want). Bought it on Amazon. Bit of an impulse buy but there was a discount available and I was sick of waiting for the Benq to go on sale.

        • I have DL19, DL16 and DL60. Color temp and brightness are easy to change on all of them. I bought them when xev (Taotronics rep) posted Amazon discount codes here. Taotronics seems to prioritises Amazon sales because you get extended warranty (12 months regular + 18 months extra) if you register products with Amazon order numbers.

          • @nfr: Yeah okay, I was looking at the DL16.
So I am better off waiting until the Taotronics rep posts something here?

Did you register the warranty on the Taotronics website?

@JoKing: Yeah I mean surely there will be a deal before year end right?

I registered on Taotronics website, got 30 months as they said.
