MyRepublic Mistakenly Terminated My Internet Service on Wrong Date

Hi, guys.

I have used myrepublic for 4 years and requested to terminate the service on 18 September 2020.
They terminated internet service today morning mistakenly.

Tried to call them but not allowed existing customer to get a support from them by calling.
Call them with another phone number(because my phone number was registered as an existing customer so automatically they cut my line) and they said i can get a support only by livechat because I am already their customer when they cut my internet.

I spent two hours for telling my problem by livechat( mostly just waiting for their message) and they said they can reconnect my internet within 2 to 20 business day.

I reckon two to twenty business days means they are not going to reconnect my internet.

I have paid fee for whole month(1 September to 30 September)

I know it is my fault I chose this insane company.
Any suggestion for my case?

    Any suggestion for my case?

What do you want? It's only 1 day difference. Live with it.

    • Yeah it is just one day so I chose the date tomorrow to cut my internet not today.
Because it causes me so much problem I had to send a file to another company and so went to library. But not allowed to upload the file in the library. Finally went to friend's house to send the file and cancelled the gathering with my friends on my last before date in Australia.
      Thanks for the reply though.

Was tethering off your phone's internet not an option?

I mean, sure it sucks and you were inconvenienced for one day.
But you're gonna spend more than another day to see this through, and you may not even get any compensation.

Ah come on, 4 year history, they mistakenly disconnected you a day early -> insane company.

        • Yeah…
Maybe I should just live with it.
I was just so upset and spent too much time to find the place to send a file.
I tried to use tethering but the file was too big to use it.
Unluckily I sold my car before so used uber to move for whole day.
It was just one day different and now I solved the problem even I am still uploading but it costs too much time and transportation expenses for me.
Just so angry they said they will contact me within 24 to 48 working hours.
That's why I said this company was insane.

Honestly, I was quite satisfied with their service at low cost.
Just unlucky day… forgot to send the file last night.. haha

  • Find a nice book to read today.

  • You posted this at 6pm. There's only 6 hours left until the 18th?

    • They cut this early in the morning and I did not request today.

      • What I mean is, most of the day is already over.

        Are you seeking compensation?

        • I assume the ISP will probably refund the final month pro-rata; not sure what the OP wants to hear lol.

Whether it's internet, phone, water, electricity or any other service… I always request a termination date of a few days to a week after the date I'm due to leave. Sure it costs a little bit extra, but I always make sure there's an overlap because… you know.. shit happens sometimes!

It's a good lesson for next time.

    • ^ this

    • THIS… Always the day after move out for sure.

The cost for a extra day on a $100/m plan is ~$3.30/day.

    • Thanks for the reply.
The reason I chose 18th is I am leaving Australia on 18th.
Just before leaving I wanted to make sure it was terminated completely, you know… like electricity or gas bill.
I did not want to have any problem when I am not in Australia.

I paid whole month fee already and I knew they charge monthly not daily. Even they cut my internet in the middle of month I had to pay for a whole month and I agreed with them before.

Anyway, I agreed with your opinion. Thank you for reply.

      • Sorry dude - I'm not here to laugh at you.. Just saying that it's good to have a contingency plan because no matter how careful you plan things, there's plenty of other things that can still go wrong. It's good to leave yourself some options, just in case.

They did it a day before to ensure it was done by the 18th, not on the 18th.

    • But I exactly asked them to terminate the serive on 18th. Not by the 18th.
Asked them by livechat and also sent an email to remind them.

And had a reply from them and it says

Termination Effectivity Date is 18 September 2020

      Thank you for reply.

  • Wish i had two hours to waste like that. Don’t waste any more of your life on this OP, its not worth it for one days internet connection

  • bye!
    come back soon!
    thank you come again!
    I'll be back!

maybe when u come back you can connect with then again and have 1 day credit

  • I didn't know that your account gets disabled too the moment you leave Australia! Peter Dutton straight onto him!
