Copped a PS5 (Hopefully Amazon Will Pull through on Release Date). Now after a Cheap, Good Quality 4K HDR TV. Any Recomms?

As per the title, looking for a noice quality TV at a price that would bring a tear to even the most seasoned of ozbargainers. What we thinking? I've had a look but the hivemind here would put HUKD to shame.

Any ideas?

Get a TV with zoned backlighting, or a TV that has a panel so good it looks as good as one with zoned backlighting. It makes a huge difference. It must cost a bit more to make because a lot of budget TVs don't have it.

    • Can you suggest a model with this function

Hisense series 7. Also OLED screens are inherently zone lit on the pixel level, but they don't support HDR iirc.

You really need a budget and size

  • Something similar along the lines of the borderless ecco that went up the other day. 700 tops, looking for at least 55"

What do you have at the moment? A cheap TV really isn't going to do the new consoles justice.

    • Just a 1080p samsung LED, so need something a bit better

  • For 700, don't set your expectations too high, and HDR would be pretty much useless

    • If 55 inch and under were okay I bet you could get a nice enough TV with HDR.

Increase the budget and get a 55" LG OLED.

I think Cheap and Good HDR do not go together at this stage. The other thing to be mindful of is HDMI 2.1 which may or may not be hugely beneficial to the next Gen Consoles given that I'd be surprised if many games are outputting above 4k@60hz

  • I went for the Hisense Q8 65"
Full array local dimming, Dolby Vision, decent inbuilt speakers. Will be keen to see how it goes with the PS5. Unfortunately no HDMI 2.1 - although the panel itself is 100Hz or 120Hz

  • What’s your budget? What size are you hoping for? What’s the minimum size you would accept?
