Best Rewards Credit Card (Spreadsheet Comparison)

Hey Guys,
Just though I’d share a credit card comparison spreadsheet I have made. You can see the value of each point earned on each card and therefore the best deal. All cards are compared using the cost of points required to get a Wish eGift Card ($50) (The Coles credit card was however compared to a Coles gift card due to them not selling Wish gift cards.) So far there are only a few but if you want a comparison on a certain card just let me know below in the comments.
Thanks! :)

I prefer to accumulate Qantas frequent flyer points and use them to book business class flights which are worth thousands of dollars - this is a much higher value reward than some measly supermarket gift cards. COVID is the perfect time to accumulate the points for when we can fly again.

    • I totally agree.

I am though worried that the combination of Qantas not releasing a lot of award redemptions (due to profit issues) and lots of people having big points balances by the end of covid doesn’t end up with dry award availability.

    • Theres a good chance Qantas will dilute the points redemption at some point due to covid so id be careful assuming the current redemption rate will continue

    • Tempted too use my Qantas frequent flyer points on a new Samsung Note 20 512gb Ultra as i can't see overseas traveling happening for a couple years especially too countries like America though Qantas seem too only offer the 4G/256gb versions of the Ultra so that turned me off, they could've had a sale from me though,.. oh well use points for something else ..

Maybe New Zealand here I come would be the safest bet in many ways 😃👍

    This is useful OP, thanks.

  • Kogan Black CC has the same earning rate as Coles Rewards CC, but with no annual fee. Although the points value is 5-10% less than flyubys, it is with $99 ahead to start the comparison. Another small advantage is Kogan points can be redeemed at as little as 1 point, but flybuys points have to been redeemed in every 2000 lot.

    • But you can buy groceries at Coles while I struggle to see what I might be interested to buy from Kogan? or can it be converted to something else?

      • I redeemed it for Kogan Mobile or other good deals. $10,000 annual spend only get you $100 kogan credits annually, which is not much for a whole year actually.

Same amount annual spend on a Coles Rewards CC just beats the annual fee, not much gain.

  • I would totally be on board with the Coles MasterCard if there happen to be one in the area. Thankfully they're in the process of expanding the local shopping centre and Coles will be moving in there.

  • Yes quite like the Kogan Black credit card. I will apply for this if they give $500 cashback in Kogan credits as they did last Black Friday.

  • Thanks for this. I actually have the Suncorp card but it doesn't have Android pay which I find inconvenient so will likely get a different rewards card if there's a decent bonus point offer at some point

    Useful spreadsheet OP, thanks!

Noticed that Coles Reward Mastercard is putting a $3000 cap on 2x Flybuys points (then 1x >$3000) from 12 January 2021. This will slightly reduce the earn rate on your spreadsheet I'd imagine.

"From 12 January 2021, in each Statement Period collect 2 Flybuys points per $1 on eligible spend up to and including $3,000 and 1 Flybuys point thereafter.²"

  • Amex platinum charge. $400 free groceries and 4.5% cashback on everything just these last 6 months

    • Where are you seeing any of this?? I’m looking at the Amex website on the platinum card and it doesn’t mention any of this?

      • These were covid special perks. One off

Thanks for collecting the info and pulling it together. If you are going to put in the efforts to maintain this and want it to be used by many people, I might suggest putting it as a public read only Google Sheet and sharing the link for that.

    • Hey thanks for your feedback, I was thinking of doing that but I decided against it due to the fact it would reveal my full name (first and last). Personally as the spreadsheet wouldn’t be editable anyway I don’t really see the point as they both show the same info.
