Gaming Chair for Kid

I know this isnt specifically 'gaming' but we are planning on XMas for my son - he is an avid gamer. He wants a 'gaming chair', like a normal chair.. but has go faster stripes down it..

Googling 'gaming chairs' brings up all kinds of fun names and colours. I was wondering if there is anything anyone could recommend, a brand etc.. I don't really want to spend more then $350 on it as he is only 9 and he is likely to spill all kinds of crap down it - so faux leather is probably the way to go.

Appreciate any input, mods if this has to goto another forum.. thanks :)

Search gaming chair on ebay or amazon and pick random fancy one. Gaming chairs are basically all meh.

I can see the appeal of gaming chairs, had one myself. Prefer office ergonomic ones now, much better for the back.

He is only 9 yo, don’t encourage him to play more games, unless you are training him to be a pro gamer.

Well don't encourage him to play a sport unless he's going to be a pro cricketer or something.

      • Yeah, this is OzB gonna maximise your spending 😁.

          Moderation is key here.
You're more employable if you can code than if you can throw a ball.

He’s an active kid who does BJJ four times a week and swims and active on the other three. We all deserve our downtime - he just prefers to exercise his mind as play an interactive game, rather then staring at a TV.

I literally bought one for my son (11YO) yesterday from Officeworks. It's $249, chose it because it's quite adjustable.

    • Thanks, saw one similar to this. Probably gonna grab something like this and not over think it.

  • I used to sit on the floor to play games when I was 9. And our PC just had an old dining chair.

    • You had a floor? I used to sit in the dirt and play with rocks, used them as marbles we did.

  • best gaming chairs for kids is the carpet

  • Expect the upholstery to peel after 2 years, because they have faux leather.

I spent 500 on a dxracer, and I thoroughly regret it. Just get a comfy office chair if you can talk your kid out of it, but totally understand that kids will be kids ;)

    • Why the buyers remorse?

      • The chair isn't much more comfortable than the officeworks one, bought it because I assumed it would be comfortable for long hours of study and gaming, however was not.

The lumbar support caused me more discomfort and doesnt actually do much in terms of support. It generally doesn't really help posture. And the fact that I paid 500 bucks, I would've loved if the upholstery lasted longer. This is off the top of my head. I could probably come up with a few more if I were sitting in it.

I would probably get a mesh chair if I were to splash on another office chair. (Which I probably won't…)

    • Yeah, cheap as possible as it’s gonna be for a 9y/o - the upholstery peeling will be a by-product of keeping by wallet health-ier.

  • I am just waiting for something good to pop up on Marketplace or Gumtree as I reckon that is probably my best bet.
