Ego Tools Questions

Hello
I bought a new Ego Multi kit with pole hedger and lawn edger. Now I want to get a line trimmer either as an attachment or as a kit with a standalone tool and 5ah battery.

The price difference between an attachment ($200) and standalone trimmer skin only ($299) is pretty comparable. I would not mind spending more on a tool with powerhead, but I need it to be foldable. Do you know if standalone trimmers can be folded in half?

Comments

  • Well, you could unscrew the 2 parts together.

  • I have two line trimmers with ego both foldable . But only if you take out one screw

  • I got the Carbon Fibre and it's foldable.

    PS: EGO Ergonomics are Shit.

  • thanks guys.
Another question, can you make a line trimmer out of edger? =)

    • Theoretically yes. You can attach some trimmer line to an edger but it's terribly impractical. Firstly, edgers are oriented vertically. You'd have to use your cutter in a prone position.

Second, line trimmers are designed to feed the line as the edges wear out. If you tie some line to your edger, the line will get shorter and you'll have to retie very often.

      • yeah, was just a thought =)

  • +1

Have the edger, trimmer and hedger attachment. Happy with it as I do the work and only use one at a time. Only reason I would look at a standalone is if I had someone helping

Either way, have enjoyed the multi tool

  • I got the CF trimmer as it was nearly the same price as the attachment ans EGO didn't include the attachment prices towards the battery redemption.

    PS: Mower is not good.

The grass was about 5cm high.

    • was thinking of getting a separate trimmer but cannot fit it in a car between houses…

      • It folds in half.

        • It folds just while its new I heard. You can fold it, but it is not meant to be done. But I guess nobody is going to stop you/me =)

          • @SAU: The motor is in the head and it's Just the power cable that bends. I asked EGO and they said it's designed to do so.

            • @askme69: good. Multi tool one would have been easier, but may get carbon shaft one for the same price

  • Another question - brush cutter vs line trimmer.
I noticed that in the manual for brushcutter it talks about the line trimmer attachment but not the other way around. Brushcutter needs an outer flange to attach the blade that Ego does not sell separately. So if I wanted to have both without buying 2 separately, is it better to get brushcutter and a trimmer head?

    • Do you want to cut brush? If not, a line trimmer will do the job.
