Which 4k Used Monitor?

Currently on a 1920x1200 monitor (I prefer the aspect ratio)
Budget is $300

I'd like a 4k monitor, 27inch (or 1 size higher).

What should I be looking for in terms of specs?

Is there a 'best' panel?
What about refresh rates?

Are there any things to watch out for apart from dead pixels?

Edit: some usage info:

  • not gaming
  • work use (ecxel, visio etc)
  • general browsing and media consumption

  • Yes, I missed the dell ebay special last week :(

    • rumored to be coming back next month with new stock

      • I'll be all over it at that price. Missed it by half an hour last time around.

  • Would extend your budget. For that price you could get a nice 1440P IPS screen, but at that price you'd be looking at a TN panel for 4k

    • Are IPS panels still the go-to type?

      • +1

Generally yes, although even a VA panel would still be much better than TN for your uses

  • Check for spiders. Some early 4k monitors weren't very well sealed, so little spiders and stuff get inside them.
