I've noticed that, for me at least, there isn't any release day delivery options anymore on Amazon AU for preorders for games or even electronics, is this the same for everyone else? What do you guys thinks happened?

Yes, however this only happened just recently ~ a few weeks ago.
I've noticed my deliveries are taking much longer (1+ week) compared to items coming sometimes next day or within 3 days
Even just for amazon to ship out an order is taking a while
Maybe it depends on location. CBD parcel lockers still get release day Prime delivery perfectly fine.

I think possibly? The last game I ordered with prime was Paper mario I think it was released on the Friday, and I received it on the Tuesday. Not the first time they've been late though. Personally it broke my trust, and I ended up pre-ordering cyberpunk 2077 on JB Hifi now.
I also used to think there was a pre-order delivery guarantee or something on the webpage but I don't see it anymore, though last email I saw was in June with:
We have good news! One of your pre-ordered items is now eligible for release date delivery and has been upgraded at no additional charge.
Hm, no that's typical for Amazon even under the same day shipping option and since most games these days ship on Friday and if they screw up it'll usually arrive tuesday even with the same day option. Now it'll come even later without the same day shipping option.
I preordered Super Mario 3d All stars for the switch at the start of the month, 4th Sep.
It released on the 18th of September.
It is now the 28th of Sep and I get an email saying the game has been shipped from the warehouse.
Me - Not happy.On live chat as we speak, and they straight away offered me a $10 promo to my account for the next purchase., for the inconvenience. I can deal with that.
Side note: The person said they contacted AUS POST and asked them to deliver it ASAP…lol? That sounds bogus to me, seeing as it's already been shipped out..
That's insane that they only just shipped a pre-order from the 18th now. I know Covid is causing delays but that's crazy lol. Be prepared to wait even longer unfortunately as that's only the first hurdle, your next one is AusPost themselves.
I pre-ordered THPS from them which was supposed to be delivered on the 4th. Wasn't shipped until the 5th and it finally turned up on the 21st. After that I won't pre-order from them again unless I'm happy to wait. Pre-ordered Mario 3D All Stars for pickup from my local JB instead and got it on release day without issue, so I'll keep doing that from now on. Happy to pay a few dollars more to make sure I get it on release day.
Guess what got delivered the day after I enquired about the late post? Seems like they really can get Aus Post to deliver ASAP after it's been sent.. (I live in a regional QLD town, so for it to get sent from Sydney or wherever and have it delivered next day , even if I chose express, is highly unlikely..)

yeah not sure what is up with that. i ordered super mario 3d all stars 2 weeks before release date and i still haven't gotten mine yet
