Recommend a TV - 55-65"

Our current unit (LG 50") has died. It had a good life of ~ 8 years. Hoping the OzB group can help me with what is good on the market right now.

Not looking for premium, or budget, but the sweet spot somewhere in between. Perhaps an upgrade from our current set up at 55-65". Looking to spend $1-1.5K with some flex.

I do have access to Good Guys Commercial if that helps.

Chromecast in-built is a plus, but not necessary. Access to apps for key streaming services also appreciated. Ultimately I just want something of good quality, that just works and has good picture and sound

What is worth a look right now?

I would try and get an LG OLED 55" on sale for about $1500, they might be pricey but they honestly are much better than anything else.

    • Which particular model did you have in mind. Most the ones I am seeing are ~ 2.5-3K

      • The LG C9 seems to go on sale for close to $1500

        • LG C9 was the 2019 model and from memory the lowest it's been is $1700

I've also been looking for one but no one seems to have any 2019 stock - the LG CX (2020 model) may go close to this price again around black friday or boxing day but currently sits at over $2500

The sweet spot around your price range would be the Sony X9000H (aka X90H/X900H) 55" - $1500 on TGGC or the 65" can be negotiated in store for $1900-$2000

  • Got a Sony 65" 9000. $1995 delivered.

  • What sort of room are you putting this in. OLED is reflective, so keep that in mind.

  • I consider 8 year a good run since my Sony 55" KDL-55W800C may have expired today after just over 4 years. It's stuck in a bootloop that I can get out of.

I'll be looking at $1000 mark since it was what I paid for the Sony.
