Samsung Not Refunding Money

Hi,

I am facing a rather peculiar problem. I bought Samsung A71 back in July from Samsung online portal. However, returned it back with thier change of mind policy and the device has been returned on 6th August.

Since then I have been following up with Samsung every other day with refund status but they keep blaming one or other departments for refund not being processed. I sent several emails, chats, FB page. Some dont respond at all and some modes like FB page, has been posting me a response every day for a month that they are looking into the matter.

Even on thier call center they blame on some other department, which they can only liase with email and there is no way of escalation. Neither do they connect me with there superiors!

I am totally helplessly, close to 2 months since device was shipped and even acknowledged by samsung but no refund. Any suggestions would be really helpful. I have even logged a case with Consumer affairs a week back, but no response.

What steps can I take to get my money back?

Thanks

    Credit card chargeback.

I need to make a script that posts this in every thread like this.

    • Thanks, I did check NAB's policy for chargeback
. My criteria didnt fit in it so I never tried, but I will give it a shot tomorrow and call the bank.

Charge back will not work in this case.

Why? Op has paid money, doesn't have the item. Can't hurt to try.

      • It will, you just need to be firm with the bank. Gather all the emails, Facebook messages, and screenshot your phone bills of the times you've contacted them. Ask NAB who to send proof you have tried going through Samsung and following up. Now it has been more than a month I'd expect some action from them.

And OP should share the return postage tracking details to show that it was delivered to Samsungs return centre

Samsung will fight any chargeback and they are quite good at it.
If they have proof it was sent and signed for …. and no proof of its return they will win.

Can ask what you didn't like about the phone that it was enough for you to change your mind.

I wanted to go for Note 20, which was due to be launched. I realized this only after I ordered.

  • Chargeback, it's been way too long.

Check your card policy as you may be out of the period/there may be a fee.

I had to chargeback Samsung when I had a Note 7 that they didn't refund after returning during the whole fiasco. Luckily CBA was great and it took one form and the money was back in two weeks. (Could have taken up to 60 days but Samsung ignored the chargeback/didn't respond to the claim so I automatically had it ruled in my favour).
    - probably helped that the phone blowing up was in the news haha

  • OP, maybe try to get more publicity via https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/samsung seems review of them are 1.6 of 5 stars… seems like a lot of people with feedback expressing their discontent and then some Samsung rep responds.

  • Call Samsung Australia, speak to someone at VOC. Usually they are in Sydney, they should be able to bypass the call centres in the phillipines and sort it out.

    • Thanks, what's a VOC? Do you have a number to reach them?
Call center guys dont transfer to anyone at all.

  • Comment on their latest Facebook posts, those usually gain attention

    • I did, they have a nice strategy. One of thier agent will post a reassuring message to give more details and then starts the joke!. I reported on FB page over a month back and since then one of thier agents will religiously reply on my messenger that they are looking into the issue and as soon as they hear back, they will get back yo me! Serious literally every day they post this to me!

  • Whats Samsung's return policy? Did not think they would allow a mere change of mind heh

    • They do offer 14 days change of mind policy. Item should be in sealed condition. They have already acknowledged my device return, its thier refund department thats stuck on refund!

      • Ah ok, sealed condition then apart from minor inconvenience, they should refund asap

  • Should have bought from JB Hifi
Bought mine there $684 over 2 months ago

    • Yeah. Really regret that

  • Hi amitisyours,

    Is your problem being resolved?
I am facing the same issue as yours I got a monitor and i request a refund 3 day after since i put through a order and i even did not receive that. However its been almost 2 months but they are not able to tell me when they will give me a refund, everytime you call them they only knows to say “please wait and i will follow up with management team"….
