Techfast System Lost by Australia Post?

I bought a $700 system in one of Techfast's recent ozbargain deals. It shipped on the 16th of this month and hasn't arrived yet. Both Australia Post and Techfast are "investigating" now.

I just went on techfast's website and in their Privacy Policy it says "Title to the product(s) passes to you when TechFast delivers it to the carrier and risk of loss passes to you when the shipper delivers product(s) to the address you designate".

So i lose $700 if the package never shows up? I paid via zippay. I can claim back on zippay?

Privacy Policy it says "Title to the product(s) passes to you when TechFast delivers it to the carrier and risk of loss passes to you when the shipper delivers product(s) to the address you designate".

This is B/S and its in Engrish… and it makes no logical sense.

Title passes to you when you receive the item AND it matches the BoM list. You can refused delivery of course.

Risk of loss does pass to you once the shipper delivers it to you AND you sign for it.

I dont think Techfast are stupid enough to not require a signature but they seem to indicate they are given they think that they can dump a PC "to the address you designate"… but hey i'm frequent not surprised by these types of businesses.

All care no responsibilty which is typical of fly bye nites who dont run things past legal.

    • With covid, signatures are not required. My postie just dumps the package af my place with no signatures.

      • A name and signature capture is required depending on the delivery instructions on the ELAD.

        • I've seen the parcel delivery guy sign the device and bring me my parcel, despite seeing me standing there waiting for it.

I think so many people would have had stuff knocked-off, and Aust Post says "We have a signature, tough luck!"

I had something going 22klms that took 3 weeks recenty

I wouldn't be panicking yet. Australia post are just pathetic with their deliveries at moment.

Yeah i have a feeling it will turn up eventually.

I was just curious if what they state in their Privacy Policy is legit. Seems strange that they can claim not to take any responsibility once the package is given to Aus Post.

  • always worth a few extra bux to use a courier, or registered post.

      Techfast don't give that option.

Where is the parcel now? What does tracking say?

    • The parcel was last scanned at the Clovelly facility at 5am on the 21st.

      • I suggest you wait then, I have had a parcel sent from Melbourne to Melbourne take almost a month, was sitting in Melbourne Facility for most of the time and didnt move, You'd probably get the parcel by the looks of it

        • Had one going to USA that didnt move for weeks on tracking to the point the buyer put in a dispute and won… even though I gave tracking info in the ebay gig..
          down 450…

I've had a couple of parcels this year that didn't get scanned in until after I got them. The worlds tracking system has the covaids too I guess?

Is OP in Melbourne? I had a replacement iPad shipped by apple in Sydney on 16th and still no updates. Everything in auspost seems slow lately unless shipped express

My apple watch got replaced 2 months ago and apple shipped the replacement from Sydney with Auspost and it took a little while to get it, cmon apple why do you have to use auspost. When I placed an order on apple online for a brand new MacBook Pro they sent it with DHL.

I think you should contact apple

Zip do have a dispute process

    https://help.zip.co/hc/en-us/articles/360001583036-What-do-I…

after 14 days if no joy from merchant you can start it with Zip

The terms in https://techfast.com.au/pages/refunds-returns-policy about non-delivery are pretty bad. Perhaps Ozbargain mods should block Techfast until that is clarified appropriately.

    • After going through a similar experience with Afterpay where the merchant only delivered part of my order, and then went into liquidation, it was a real PITA to get this sorted and I had to go through AFCA. Unlike a normal transaction, it's a violation of T&Cs with the BNPL provider to raise a chargeback since they've delivered on what they promised (ie BNPL credit facility).

It's times like this that I realised if I had just used my CC directly with the merchant (rather than through an intermediary/BNPL scheme) I would've been able to just raise a CC chargeback without all the stress.

  • I think Aust post is AWFULLY useless at the moment. Bought dyson air wrap on sephora on express from Syd-Per and sent on the 15th and still "stuck" in syd with no updates/

Couldn't agree more - paid for Express Post on something a week or so ago, took 4 business days to arrive at it's destination. Disgusting they continue to put profit ahead of service… reducing mail deliveries to every second day while continually jacking up the price of postage… they're a joke which we're forced to put up with.

I had a similar issue with Auspost and Techfast, I can't speak for them but they were very helpful and reassured me if it was lost I wouldn't be out of pocket.

To clarify though, my package was marked as delivered, turns out it'd been delivered to the wrong house, without a signature, to someone who wasn't home.. so chances are it's still on the way, hoping for the best for you!

AusPost are struggling with deliveries. I have one from SA to Melb Now delayed. It's been 3 weeks. Other packages at least at 2 week point. Suspect also in Melb there is the reduced staff sorting levels due to Covid. Normal letter post is teducedto alternate days. So on 1 week you may only get 2 deliveries for letters. Packages prioritised, but not really great as you can tell. We aren't even at Christmas time so get in early for anything for that occasion.

  • I have a few separate experiences from the past few weeks from various places in Victoria to Melbourne 3012.
Item 1. Caufield - posted 24/08, still stuck at processing centre.
Item 2. Posted from Mildura posted 21/09 arrived 27/09.
Item 3 Flemington posted on 17/09, stuck at processing centre.
Item 4 from Hoppers Crossing posted 25/09 arrived 28/09.

    • Are these items still stuck at processing centre? Apparently mine are lost and has been stuck at processing centre still.

      • Yep, still stuck :( I messaged AP privately on product review, they said they'll investigate and said looks like the one from Caufield is most likely lost as there hasn't been any scans since August

  • Title to the product(s) passes to you when TechFast delivers it to the carrier and risk of loss passes to you when the shipper delivers product(s) to the address you designate".

Don’t worry. This clause won’t hold up in Court as long as the carrier is acting as an agent for the supplier/retailer/sender.

  • any updates OP?

    • Someone found it at their Clovelly facility a few days ago. Apparently it will be delivered sometime this week.

      • Did you get the system? How was it?

  • There needs to be a class-action suit against AU Post for their ridiculous definition of, "tracking".

They do NOT offer tracking, at the price point they claim it to be.

What they "offer" is knowing when they handed it to AU Post & then once it's delivered (which you would already know in most cases. :P).

The AU Post needs to differentiate between "tracking & "delivery confirmation", and offer ACTUAL tracking, from point to point, until delivered.

    Wake up, AU Post!
