Laptop 15" Tch FHD i5 8GB 256GB

Hi All,

Looking for recommendations for a laptop for my dad at the cheapest cost.

I got him a Acer Aspire Aspire V5-573PG (15" touch screen with i5 and HD resolution) 6 years ago for ~$600.
I replaced its disk with a SSD 2yrs ago and it was good to use. But its starting to show its age and often is sluggish.

He is into publishing of some magazines (voluntary) so requires a bit of graphic processing and grunt. With his heavy usage, I'm thinking of the following specs at minimum.

  • 15" with Touch Screen (better visibility for eyes + num pad)
  • Full HD (1920x1080) resolution
  • Intel i5 9th Gen/10th Gen processor
  • 8/16GB Ram
  • Addl. Graphics card (if available)
  • 256GB HDD minimum
  • 3yr warranty

All that I can find are around $1500 mark….anything lower?

Any recommendations? Thanks in advance for your help

Lenovo Ideapad Flex 15 or Asus Zenbook Flip 14 could be options if you shop around

I can almost guarantee that a fresh install of W10 will have this machine up and running at its best again. Save your money.

    • I've tried that already. But it appears the needs are a better processor with more RAM.

  • Have you looked into upgrading ram on that laptop? Id look into backing up files and doing a fresh install. Is it necessary to have a laptop? I would say you can get a really decent desktop with that budget.

    • Nopes, I havent, but even the processor runs on 100% CPU util with fans purring…so i'm kind of aligned with that.

A desktop wouldnt have touch option and portability of moving around and working from anywhere. He does travel a bit.
The publishing works are one of things that keep him occupied in the old age.

Keep a lookout on the Lenovo E15 when they are available. Often available for $~1200 with 3yr onsite wty upgrade. I'd reccomend upping the ram to 16 or 24gb which would still come under the $1500 budget.

    • A good laptop but not touchscreen though.

  • Thanks all for your comments anyways…Will keep an eye for Lenovo Ideapad Flex 15 / E15 & Asus Zenbook Flip 14. Let me know if any other options.
