Purple costs much more to produce… Obviously. Lol

      • Actually it used to be a thing in Rome. Which is why purple was considered regal. I think they had to use some specific sea animals to get purple dye.

Just below the "add to cart" (in Windows desktop) it states that "Regular Price $29.99 (Save 46%)".
Anyhow I bought one, as to why I bought one, I have no idea!!

If you become COVID-19 positive, you are quarantined at home for 2 weeks, whilst monitoring for symptoms such as breathlessness. By the time you feel breathless, you usually have quite advanced disease already.

Falling oxygen saturation levels are an early indicator that you are deteriorating and should seek medical attention.

      • @Riker88 Well then I've got something to look forward to if I get COVID-19

Also good for people that suffer Asthma or other respiratory conditions.

Personally I use it to monitor the use of my asthma management plan - am I actually short of breath or is my mind playing tricks? I took my reliever 10 minutes ago and there’s no discernible difference, time to move on to the next step.

They can be very useful in a lot of ways.

That is, if you believe COVID is real…

This one doesn't display perfusion index, which is critical when used to confirm spo2. Without a PI you don't know if the reading is accurate (either low or high) so could cause more harm than good.

        • Thanks for the info about PI

    • These are great for testing resting heartrate in the morning upon waking and before getting out of bed (if your an aspring athlete).

  • Save a few bucks.

    • This plus a discounted Apple watch 4

  • At 10:28am the price has went up to $29.99!!

I purchased this exact model two weeks ago. Works well, locks onto target quickly, comes with a silicone protective cover (falls off a bit easily, but works well). Cannot find where to change polyphonic ringtone though. Accuracy? I don't have any professional sensors to compare with.

    • Try keeping your finger on the main (only) button. My other branded one then pops up a menu to change settings

    • polyphonic ringtone?!?

      • Haha. It can beep with your heart rate, and can alarm if your stats drop below a certain level.

I saw them use one of these things on Bondi Rescue for someone who nearly drowned

    • +1

Why did some twit neg this guy's comment? It shows these devices have legit medical value & uses. Take a + to counter out their stupidity. :-)

      • Maybe they don't like Bondi Rescue ? Some clear negs in there.
Plus you never really know what Ozb'ers are thinking.

Great little device. Bought one a while ago to check my daughters O2 levels due to asthma.

  • Thanks OP. I was after one of these last week.

This is great. Have had one for a year for our lil blue one. This is a must have for anyone with heart condition or asthma.

It is accurate enough. However, unsurprisingly, we found it difficult to get readings for our infant.

    • Yeah, it is hard to get readings on those infants /children with slim fingers and especially if they move a lot

    • Just out of interest how do you know it’s accurate?

  • +3

Thanks op, Often this price, seems to pop up regularly in deal of the day. Almost purchased but then wondered if at all accurate (even though the name is Zacurate!) did some googling and found some research showing some budget models that do have good accuracy and decided these likely are better.

Unsurprisingly many are inaccurate but the found Two of the pulse oximeters tested (Contec CMS50DL and Beijing Choice C20) demonstrated ARMS of <3% at Sao2 between 70% and 100%, thereby meeting International Organization for Standardization (ISO) criteria for accuracy.

This or the new apple watch

  • This oximeter is like a kids toy. It doesn't display the perfusion index, which is critical when used to confirm spo2. Without a PI you don't know if the reading is accurate (either low or high) - it may match a professional sensor when your spo2 is ok but provide a false high reading when you need it most. It could cause more harm than good.

    • +6

What. The vast majority of hospital sats machines do not show PI. How do I know? I work in one

  • +3

This is enough for general use. The hospital grade on with PI cost 100 times more. This is generally used even in ER.

  • 100% claimed

This is just one of the generic Chinese units that an Alibaba seller will provide in qty with your own branding on it.
The same thing can be bought from Ebay for under $20 delivered on a regular basis.

Search Ebay for 'Fingertip Pulse Oximeter'

But does the Chinese comes with US call centre support? 🤭

      • everything comes into us call centre storage - this comment is already there.

I purchased the zacurate one but with the better LCD screen and I feel it is inaccurate. At school and at medical placements I have compared it to the ones we use on patients and have always found it to be under reporting the numbers. You should be 95% or above for o2 sats as a healthy person, and I was getting worried as mine was always showing 92,93 etc. (For reference I've seen patients with COPD and their "normal" was 85-87% which isn't good…) Even the small finger ones we have in class all varied as well so I'm still on the fence as to the accuracy of these little units…

    • probably related to perfusion. Try a thinner, softer part of your skin closer to a decent blood supply. JME.

In saying that, my Huawei Honor Band 5 must be pretty accurate, but I let it measure from under my wrist, rather than on top, and I usually have to shave the hair off my arm for it to be consistently reliable.
