My apologies, not sure how I forgot the most important part, the bargain part

      • You did forget the bargain bit because you didn't put the regular price.

  • $269 (was $339), so $70 off

For some reason OzB says it's a referral link so I can't post it, but Amazon AU have this model for $249 delivered

  • Are these considerably better than a regular $100 electric razer like my old Braun series 5?

    • Not sure, about to find out though.

Recommend trying both if you have the means. I went years using a Braun 5000 series before being tempted to pick up a Philips in an OzB deal, and discovered the rotary type worked much better for certain areas (e.g. above the upper lip) while the Braun remained best for other spots, so now I use both. Also eventually found the Braun works best for me after a shower, after years of following the manual's "tips for a perfect shave" to "shave before washing your face or taking a shower, as skin tends to swell after washing" (turns out I get a closer shave and reduced irritation if done after a shower).

Bottom line - it's extremely individual and going by recommendations can give you tunnel vision when you really have to try different things yourself.

For me this one works in an very awful way. The shaving head is too flexible and It simply makes shaving so hard. And even if you spend a lot of time using this model to shave, the final result is far worse than what the cheap ones give you. I simply cannot get a clean shave from this model no matter how hard I tried. In the end I give it to my dad and use the low end cheap one. I have used Panasonic which is same mechanism as Braun and I think it is better than this. This is my personal experience.
However I always prefer a Philips style shaver because the final result is better. I have used many cheap philips and they are great except for the batteries. Philips intentionally use bad batteries which die in just more than a year to ensure you buy a new one. Or if you want one with quality battery you have to get a premium battery model which is far more expensive and is functionally the same. If you don’t want the battery hassle do not buy any” 8 hour charging gives 20 minutes shaving” model.

      • Yeah always go with the lithium battery models 👍
