Edifier R1700BT Line in Not Working?

I finally decided to plug my Edifier r1700bt into my tv. I plugged the dual RCA cables into the speaker and my tv, and as suggested in a whirlpool thread, to make sure to press line in on the remote.

Nothing happens though. Am I supposed to get a response from the mini LED light on the speaker when I press line in on the remote? All other buttons (power, mute, vol up down, Bluetooth) respond with a change in LED status, but not line in. Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: turns out the dual RCA ports on the back of my tv are AV IN, so only for sound going in, not out. The only way to output sound from my tv is through digital audio out, so will need a DAC.

  • I'm following this thread because I had the same issue and Google couldn't solve it. Mine is plugged into my TV via AUX now which works fine but I know it could be better.

    • Yep, mine is also plugged into the aux on the back of tv. Tried swapping the cables around, haven't tried a new set of cables to see if it's the cables problem. I'm using the one that came in the box.

    • +1

I had to consult my TV manual. The dual RCA on my tv are for audio in, so plugging my speakers into that didn't work. The only way to output sound through external speakers is through my digital audio out socket. Make sure yours are out, not in.

For reference, my tv is a Panasonic Viera

      • Glad you got it going! Mine didn't work on the out socket unfortunately on my Samsung

  • mini LED light should be green on Line in and blue on Bluetooth mode. Remote not working? You can press down the volume knob on the speaker to change the mode too.

    • It's solid green when I press power on the remote. Not sure if it's automatically line in on power up? I mean, it looks like my remote is working perfectly fine except for line in. Ill try the knob

    • I can confirm the remote line in button works. Pressing it when in Bluetooth mode changes the led status to solid green. But still not changing tv audio over to the r1700bt

      • Perhaps it's to do with the TV audio not routing the sound through the Edifiers. E.g with my LG you need to select the audio output

        • Great username. My Panasonic doesn't have this option unfortunately. I even tried to connect them possible via Bluetooth but it can't even detect it

      • Try plugging in the speaker to a phone or something similar

        • Works fine when connecting phone via usb type C adapter, into the pc-in slots.
