No Waiting Dental Insurance

Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,

Last month i had my right side wisdom tooth ache for a couple of days and gone away, today the left hand side starting aching too, I'm sure a few months back i had the same tooth aching too. I'm not sure if i should be looking at wisdom tooth removal. If i had to do it, i don't have any private health insurance and i believe it'd be too costly to get it done. I saw AHM has no waiting period on some extras but i'm not sure how it works with the tooth extraction. Anyone in here had similar experience before who can advise me of the insurance and out of pocket cost (rough figure) please ?

Regards,

  • Two aces, nice work you should go all in.

So you want instant insurance for pre existing condition?

  • No chance you'd find that procedure without a waiting period… Perhaps the top of the like Bupa cover etc with a promotion.

  • If it's too costly for you and you have a Health Care Card, Seniors Card or Pensioner Concession Card, you could try the public dental services:
    https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/oralhealth/Pages/public-oral-h… for NSW
    https://www.dhsv.org.au/public-dental-services for VIC

  • No waiting? I don't think that's possible. AFAIK most insurers require a 6mo wait on dental extras, 12mo for major dental work

EDIT: I spoke too soon, looks like there might be some https://www.finder.com.au/no-waiting-period-health-insurance

  • Tooth extraction is usually covered under general dental, which is only 2 months waiting period and usually waived for new customers.

I'll tell ya, don't go to the student dental hospital. I've had some bad experiences before, but nothing like someone tearing teeth out of my head for the first time. It's the kind of thing you need to know what you're doing. The scene was like something from a mafia movie, they were tearing them out like I had slept with the bosses wife. And what if they make a mistake and break a tooth and suddenly you need gum surgery. And you'd better believe you're getting the minimal anesthetic for the price.

Where do you propose the students get their experience? On horses?

      • I guess someone has to be the first. Or the 10th attempt before the student figures out it isn’t for them.

          Savage!

  • Last I check Insurance companies are a businesses, they don't hand out free money.
