  • What do you think about this car

    It is gorgeous

do you think it a good deal

Says female owner. Ask about its last service. Ensure you get minimum 50% ozbargain car purchasing discount.

    • Would you change the rego if it was for you ?
No idea how much it could cost…

According to the ad, the seller lives near Raymond Terrace in NSW. If so, why haven't they changed it themselves?

I'd be triple checking the car isn't a write-off or has any other impediment to registration.

    you'll have to pay:
    blue slip $60
    Greenslip ~$600
    rego ~$300
    stamp duty on value $69

If you really want it I'd offer $1100 explaining that it will cost another $1200 (plus any repairs required from the blueslip) to legally own it in NSW

    • Perfect . Thanks for the info.
      Have a nice day

    • If it is Qld rego and near Raymond Terrace, there is a good chance that it's RAAF personnel. That area is always full of vehicles with interstate rego.

Only addition to your rego fees would be the plate fee for new plates at $47 for regular issue plates or $107(ish) for slimline.

If you are buying the vehicle and keeping it for yourself and you live in NSW, you have to get it registered in NSW. If you do not have a Queensland address, you cannot keep the registration or transfer it to yourself.

Offer them a few hundred off it because the rego is worthless to you and they may be able to cash the remaining rego out when they hand the plates back in.

Brad has already outlined the associated costs for rego in their post above. Just be aware that it may need things for roadworthy in NSW, so you could be up for other items like tyres or brakes if they are low. Maybe as part of the deal, get them to have the blue slip done on the vehicle.

Don't forget to run the VIN through the PPSR to check if it's a write off or has money oweing

And for the love of all that is holy, when you buy it, get at least the minimum of 3rd party property insurance on it.

  • Not worth it. 18 year old car with high km's and have to transfer, too much hassle for the price of the car.

    • Thanks for the advice ,!

      • Agree. There will be another one similar with local rego. Cheap cars everywhere.

  • Well yes obviously you need to register in your home state where your license is police can get you if you're driving an interstate car for too long I think it is 90 days you have to change it over

  • According to the ad the seller is transferring the rego over to NSW so you shouldn't need to do it.
