Purchasing Rav4 through Carconnect, Anybody Had Any Issues with Carconnect or Other Online Car Brokers?

Hi all,

Long time lurker first time poster, I recently put down a deposit for a new Toyota Rav 4 Cruiser Hybrid through online car broker CarConnect. I'm yet to pay the balance for the car and am getting a bit nervous about the process i.e. transferring funds (~$45k) without actually seeing/receiving the car. Apparently the car is delivered to your home once the car has arrived and payment has been received.

Has anybody had any experience with CarConnect? or any other online broker like Private Fleet, MBA Car assist etc.

Thanks

  • Why?? Toyota does the same thing.

    • Got a much much better price

      • Is the cruiser not listed at $46k RRP?

        • 49.8k, hybrid version

          • @InagawaKakuji: Hybrid cruiser fwd is $46. AWD is $50 odd, is that what you have ordered? Did you try to negotiate with the dealer, or just accept this weird deal where a car just gets plonked on your doorstep?

            • @brendanm: yea negotiated with three diffferent dealerships in person, ready to pay a deposit, none of them could get close, best they could do was 48.5k

If OP is happy and dealer is happy, then nothing else matters. Ignorance is bliss!

Just don't let him/her find out later that everyone else gets it for much much less!

For the love of God, don't buy it until you have asked yourself; do you need roof racks?

Obligatory InB4: JoHn CaDoGaN AnD AuToExPeRt… I have tried on multiple occasions to use his service and failed to secure a deal on any occasion as they were either just quoting RRP or were more expensive than the dealers I was already dealing with myself. And Cadogan is just another layer in the buying cake, as they just palm you off onto a company called Georgie, so I wouldn't bother with them, either.

I assume this goes through as a fleet sale? I used a broker once for a Honda and got ~5k off my car's RRP; it was processed as a fleet sale. I went with my mate shortly after direct to the dealer for him to buy exactly the same car and cut out the middleman and they couldn't get within $3k of what I paid going through the broker.

  • Only bought once via fleet sale. Dealt with the fleet manager, they never are on the showroom as that's not their role.

I've used Carconnect in the past and had a good experience

Are you able to let me know what the process was? did you pay in full then organise a delivery date to your home?

  • Why would you not look for a car in person to get up close to it look under it, touch it, smell it,

  • @InagawaKakuji did you buy car through carconnect at last?

  • I am a broker at Stratton Finance and we offer our clients a choice of getting a cheaper quote (most times) through carconnect. It’s actually been a successful pathway to getting our clients into cars and at a much cheaper price than they would have had If they walked into a dealership as a retail customer.
