    I'm one of the dozen people left on earth who hasn't played W3.

    The only time I remember that being free was some GoG promo thing, but you had to have a friend who already had it on another platform or something.
    One of these days.. :P

  As dated as the games are, I played The Witcher 1 and 2 maybe 3 years ago. Once you get over the initial clunk, I was hooked on both of them.

  You don't need to play them to enjoy The Witcher 3, but there are characters from both games in 3.

  Also buying 2077 from GOG supports CDPR 100% which is nice.

      CD Projekt S.A. is the parent company which was founded in 1994 and was initially a video game retailer. In 2002 they formed CD Projekt Red to develop their own video games. In 2008 GOG was formed and established.
      So it is CD Projekt S.A. that owns both CD Projekt Red and GOG.
