WTH, it was $18$16 a few days ago! :P

Note that this will be free on PS5 as part of the PS Plus collection :)

    • edit: I saw wrongly, you’re right

    • I was holding off buying this because of it coming out on PS+ but realised that rarely do I have the time to finish a game in a month, so it actually works out cheaper (for me) to buy this than pay for ps+ for 2 months. Just something to keep in mind for those who may not complete it in a month :-)

      • I think you get to keep the games in the collection permanently (in your account) as long as you have your PS Plus subscription active - that's always been the case with the monthly PS Plus games

        • +1

This is correct. Games are free to keep for life so long as you keep your subscription active. Even if you temporarily cancel you can access them again once you reactivate.

          • @Warehouse: Yeahnah, I know that. But, it’s still cheaper not to have an active subscription for two months and buy at this price. If you already have an active subscription, or can finish it within one month of having the active subscription then it makes sense. I tend to only play one game at a time, so what is the point of paying 2 - 3 months subscription to play a game “for free” I could have just outright purchased at this great price?

My #1 favourite PS4 game. Get it if you haven’t already

best single player game of all time for me, witcher 3 comes second

    • +2

Last of us also in the mix.

      • I've been gaming for 40 years and TLOU is just the best game of all time for me, single player or otherwise.

      • +2

While I love TLOU, I've always felt that gameplay wise it doesn't hold up, MGSV does everything it does better :(

        • Yeah I agree. I still remember after the second or third time I found myself in cover shooting guns at humans who were also in cover thinking gee I sure feel like I've played this before.

    • wow might have to try it

    My quick thoughts and review:

I finished this game a while back and enjoyed it. HLTB said 20hrs for main story which was about right. Took me 27 with some side stuff. I like the linearity of the game since there is more action packed experience and I've been burnt out from open world.

Story and voice acting was amazing. Visual was great.
combat is a bit slow but I like the weight of each attack but eventually felt a bit repetitive. Certain parts was a tiny bit too long. Definitely worth getting for $15. If I played this game with my friend's copy and finished it. I would pay $15 without a thought just to have it in my collection. Could not say the same with KH3 and HZD

    • +1

KH3 is probably made for 12 year olds. Couldn't stand the super long and childish dialogues

    • What's wrong with HZD?

      • +1

HZD was a good game but it wasn't great for me. Unfortunately, I played this game after botw and spiderman.

Graphics was amazing, I love the design of the mecha animals but combat, pre scripted wall climbs, map plagued with markers are very much copy and paste in a lot of open world games.

My typical game play is select a marker, walk over to location, talk, given a new marker, walk, fight, some story, repeat. The world wasn't captivating where I could spend hours exploring the world without going for a story or side mission. First third of the game I do remember being very excited with what the world had, that feeling died for the remainder of the game. There were a lot of traversing between missions but getting there was a means to an end which makes it a very forgettable open world.

A good way to fix this would have been to not include the enemy markers after the "tower" has been activated and something you can mark on the map yourself.

Overall, it did good as an open world, story made me go oh damn but nothing that made me feel something beyond the end of my playthrough. But as someone who has played the Arkham, Farcry, Skyrim, Assasins creed, tomb raider and GTA series, I wanted something more from open world games.

Tl;dr I don't dislike HZD, it's a good game. But the open world didn't wow me. I borrowed my friend's copy of HZD to play, it's not a game I would go out and spend a further $15 to have in my collection.

Thanks OP, didn't play it before, by reading the reviews it's definitely worth it!

Good price for an awesome game.
    Worth it boy!

  • Up vote for the synopsis. And the stargate reference.

Only finished this a few days. Has to be THE best game of the current generation. The story, voice acting, action and fighting scenes, the scale and single take/no loading anywhere makes this an absolute must play.

Just recieved mine today paid $16

  • such a great game. might as well wait for the the digital deluxe to go on sale again for like $18 though…

  • Wow great price. I just sold my copy on eBay for $18.50. Feeling lucky now.

    • +1

      EBAY FEE: $2.02
      FEE PERCENTAGE: 10.92%
      PAYPAL FEE: $0.78
      FEE PERCENTAGE: 2.6% + $0.30
      TOTAL PROFIT: $15.7

One you add postage you came in a little under the $15 but still lucky sale for the price.

      • I did qualify for the $1 final value fee thing. Postage will be a few bucks. But yeah not like I’m making any money on it. Paid $50 for it to begin with. Got my money’s worth I think.

    Really good game.

I got like 30% through this game then feared my PS4 Pro was actually going to take off. Saving it for buttery smooth framerates on PS5

I’ve always wanted to try this game. Thanks OP.

I bought this game about a year ago after all the amazing reviews. While I liked the visuals, the sound, the story etc. I just couldn't like the game. I couldn't get into it. No idea why, although I found the upgrade system / weapons / armour etc. confusing and Kratos is just a pain in the arse to listen to.

    shrug

    • +1

Give it another go. I found it a bit hard to get into - but once I hit the lake and started exploring I was hooked. It took a few hours.

      Honestly such a great game

    • -1

You aren't the only one, I hated it too.

It's slow and boring, the combat is a massive downgrade from previous god of war games, the UI for items and skills etc is atrocious.

I actually don't understand why people seem to love it so much.

      • -1

Completely agree. Items and skills had me wondering WTF is going on, how do I use this $hit. I thought I was about half way through when I gave up, ended up watching a completion guide on YouTube, turns out I was about 25% of the way through, from what I saw, nothing really wanted me to go back and ever play it again.

It literally sounds like we are the only people in history to not like this game.
