Sauna Heater Advice Required. Is Buying Cheap a Good Idea?

I'm currently building a sauna box (2m x 1.2m x 1.8m) and want to fit a 6kw sauna heater . There are a lot cheap heaters from aliexpress that range from $300 to $600 AUD for that rating, but i'm unsure if these function well and would be electrically safe. There are not a lot of information available. I mean its a lot of electricity and saunas tend to get wet…. however I would think a Sauna heater featuring a heat element is a simple enough design.

I did try to buy one months ago but had to dispute as the supplier tried to scam more money off me. Very annoying experience which I am now not confident with purchasing off Ali Express now.

The other option would be to purchase a quality sauna heater locally, but a quick google search yields a $1200 price for the 6kw range. This is way out of my range and I will have to hold off buying one right now if that's the case.

I'm also interested with the whole pouring water over the rocks part of sauna heaters. I've never done this as I've always used a public sauna, but the thought of doing this to a cheaply made sauna heater frightens me. Haha

Any advice or experiences shared would be greatly appreciated.

Whatever you do, do not let anything pee on the rocks! The awful smell NEVER goes away! Had to replace the unit

Regards to cheapo units, my opinion is that you won’t get electrocuted when protected by a safety switch

    • Great advice. hahahaha!

Just build it out in the middle of your backyard in the open sun
