Has Anyone Done a Cert II or III in Applied Languages (Japanese) in WA?

I'm looking into doing a cert II or III in Japanese in Japanese and was wondering what the course would contain as the TAFE website about the course barely tells me anything about the course so I don't know if it is right for me and which certificate I should go for that's at my level.

I already have some basic knowledge of Japanese and know how to read hiragana and katakana, some basic kanji, some basic grammar rules, vocabulary, and how to form some sentences etc so I wouldn't really consider myself a beginner in that sort of sense.

  • Speak to the course coordinator at the TAFE.

  • Just clicking on a random cert 3 and they note they use JF Standard Coursebook Marugoto: Japanese Language and Culture Elementary 2 A2

Might help you see how far it gets you based on the book they use?

  • I've done it in NSW and we basically went through the Genki workbooks https://www.amazon.com.au/Genki-Integrated-Elementary-Japane…

  • I did a Diploma of Languages in Japanese and there were options for beginner entry, intermediate entry and advanced entry, all using different textbooks. In general people who did year 12 Japanese would join the intermediate stream.

It might be worth emailing the institute and asking them what the options are, if it's not published on their website?
