Vivoactive also on sale here

Been looking for a good deal on these entry-level Garmin watches for some time.
US stock but shouldnt be an issue, Garmin warranty is supposedly legendary. Last time I heard, GPS stood for Global Positioning System so should work as long as youre somewhere on the globe.
Currently the lowest price they've been if you don't count the erroneously given out 50% off code.
Beats out the 20% off Bupa code by a decent amount.

Forerunner 645 vs Vivoactive 4 comparison here
TL;DR - VA4 has touchscreen and functionality for golf/yoga, Forerunner 645 has a lot more functionality for running metrics. Also VA4 is arguably newer and might have better firmware support.

  • Should i go fitbit versa 2 or 3 or one of these?

    • I think versa 2 has no onboard GPS so if you want to track runs you will need your phone with you. Not sure about 3.

Thanks, picked out the VA4 that I've had my eye on for some time. :)

  • Would Amazon US mean no warranty here in Aus?

    • From Garmin's website, I do think they preclude warranty from overseas purchases, but as far as I can tell from elsewhere online, most of the time they don't even ask for proof of purchase when it's a major fault. It appears to generally just cover them in cases where its a country where it's difficult for them to offer repairs. Not sure what warranty Amazon would cover.

      • I've had to warranty my FR935 before and they didn't ask me for anything because I had the device registered and tracked on my garmin devices account… They just needed to check the serial, which might tell them if it's US stock or not.

Any hardware differences between US and AU versions of the VA4? I'm eyeing it but not sure if features like Garmin Pay (of US units) would work here in AU. Technically, it should but just want to get some feedback before pulling the trigger.

    • Wondering about this too!

  • Was planning on picking an Amazfit one. Any suggestions on how Gramin as a brand stacks up against Amazfit?

Never heard of Amazfit before. But Garmins are really solid. I'm now on #3 of the Forerunner series watches (210/230/245). Each has lasted me about 3-4 years before I've upgraded and the old one has still been working fine.
