Need Help with Picking New Computer Speakers

Hi guys I'd like to buy some Studio Monitors for my new pc - i plan to use them for listening to songs and watch movies + games - usual pc stuff and not to create music.

I tested the Pioneer DM40's at my friends house and felt like they were amazing however lacking bass for my needs (I currently have the Z623'S hooked to my TV I'm happy with the level of bass but its doesn't feel like high quality) Sorry i'm a noob in Audio and do not know the words to describe.

I was hoping to get your input if its better for me to get the Pioneer DM40'S and hook up a Studio Sub that will set me back around $ 379-500 that is my price range or get the JBL LSR305 also in my budget but i still might need a sub? I like bass heavy. Could you please suggest my best options are? Ideally I do not want to spend anything more than $700 and prefer the likes of JBL,Pioneer or Yamaha as they all have great reviews from my research.

Could i get away with the DM40'S + something like AVE Fusion 10? or fork out more and DM40'S + KRK KRK KRK8S2 Studio Monitor Subwoofer 8 Inch

or go for the LSR305 and see if i still need a sub?

Thank you for your patience . Just trying to get the best bang my buck. I would highly appreciate any input!

    I like bass heavy.

In my opinion if you turn the bass up, it ends up impacting how you hear the details in higher frequencies (mids / highs). So if you are going to turn the bass up anyway, you can save your money and just use cheaper studio monitors.

DM40’s + AVE Fusion 10 would probably be enough and sound better than your Logitech Z623’s.

You will still end up needing a sub. Just buy the smaller cheaper studio monitors and save your money.

    • Thank you that is helpful one sales person however told me that DM40'S are basically just glorified regular PC speakers and the the LSR305'S are a big step up from them. Your thoughts?

      • +1

Yes JBL LSR305 are popular budget studio-monitors for a reason, but that is in a professional environment.

For casual listening you can spend less and get the cheaper options (as long as it is still from companies with good reputations).
Especially if you intend to listen with the bass turned up on a similarly cheap subwoofer.

The subwoofer you chose is the only thing I would be careful with, make sure to research and read genuine reviews. Never heard of AVE.

  • I have a pair of Mackie MR5s (which would be overkill for you) but I think some of their CR-X series might be more suitable. Think JB-HiFi stock some of them.
