  • got one, thanks

  • Product sounds good but there are handful of customer reviews on how the product died after 3-5 months. Does anyone else has this same issue with this particular product?

    • +1

i was about to order one but saw those reviews so i am waiting on Ozbargainers to clarify it

      • I saw those reviews too but still risked it.

This product has been on the market for a few years, if it is massive I guess this model is already discontinued, so…

There are bad reviews for the coreless version too saying the water in the tank is not sufficient for one use.

I had one, and also have a spare from when ShaverShop were selling it (5509, WATERPIK FLOSS WP100A ULTRA 3501) for $79.95 delivered.
      They don't last long.
Pump mechanism is all plastic and starts to leak, then piston sticks and lose power until it stops.
If you just use water it will last >1 yr, if you use bicarb or mouth wash you need to rinse after use or it will last 4 months.
DentJet Oral Irrigator is 95% as good and maybe even better engineered but mine still hasn't stopped yet so I haven't disassembled it. It is leaking from the tube base attachment and the hose has a little hole which I cover with a finger so it doesn't spray in my face.

    • They are cheaply made, no doubt about it. They feel more like a $2 store copy than the original thing. But they work, and unless you are rough with it I don't see why it wouldn't last at least a year. With very careful use you may get 5 years out of it.

The key areas to avoiding damage are
      1. Fill up with warm (not hot) water, and only run through once. The pump is only specc'd for like 3min of run time. If you refill and do it again, which is tempting to do because it's hard to get everything in the one go, it raises the chance of motor burnout
      2. Be extra careful with the tube. It's made of extra shit pvc, and the strain of stretching it even a little will cause it to break apart.

For context I got mine when Costco had a 2pk for $110 about 2 years ago. Despite all the flaws they are worth it. Dental bills for bad teeth are so high that even if you have to buy one every 6 months, it would still make sense.

Chemist Warehouse has amazing prices (i think 80-90dollars) up until recently, but it went out of stock. Haven't seen prices like this since then.

Worth a try. If it breaks within 1 year, shouldn't it still be covered under Australian warranty?

    • There are three models:
      ultra, ultra plus, ultra professional.
CW is now selling the first two for 99 and 145 respectively.

This deal is about the last and it is 105, you are right, it worth a try.

Bought this one last week. works great. Does the job and is half the price

Oral Irrigator Multifunctional Water Flosser for Family, DentJet Professional Dental Care Kit Teeth Cleaner Water Pick for Teeth with 7 Nozzles and Travel Bag (DJ-169 for Household). $58

    • it was less than 50 yesterday, but 58 is still a good price if one needs a flosser.

  • Not sure which model I have, got it like 5 years ago and probably used it for a month. If I would buy one now I’d go the cordless version cause I remember it being a bit of a pain having it plugged in and dealing with the cord. Even if the water tank doesn’t last one use like some reviews said I’d still take that over cords

I have a cordless one and it's not working anymore. It's annoying filling up a couple times a night and you still need cords because it needs charging every few days.
Also there's not much pressure coming from the cordless in comparison to the plug in model

      • I have a panasonic portable flosser. It uses AA batteries that last weeks. No bigger than a toothbrush case. I can't even contemplate a large, plugged in unit.

  • I have Waterpik cordless. 1 tank of water is almost enough for the whole mouth, but if you enjoy flossing you'll need 2 haha. And battery lasts ~2 weeks (3-4 times a week usage). Just to give a reference for what to expect from cordless one in case anyone thinking cordless vs corded. I think I paid $50 to shavershop 3-4 months ago.

I have an older version of this - and for the people worried about durability, it has been going for more than 5 years. At this price I am tempted to have the replacement sitting there.

The only real issue I had was the tubing can break because it is semi-rigid and will eventually fatigue snap near the base. You can buy replacement handsets, but it can be a bit hit & miss on the cheap Chinese ones.

I also have the battery version and found it doesn’t have as much pressure and the water tank was a bit small - often needed refilling to do one clean. A charge would last a week.

It is great if you suffer from bleeding gums after flossing or have teeth or crowns/bridges that are too close together for floss - but is not a complete replacement for floss.

  • Thanks OP, bought the cordless one

  • What's the difference between this and the black one? How come the original price for the black one is cheaper?

  • These are flimsy and look cheap. I'm looking at the new Panasonic ew1611. Looks much cleaner and well built

  • really want one but my bathroom has no power outlet….

    • So you can’t use a hair dryer in the bathroom too?

Wanted one but now out of stock. Please update the post

    • Thanks, it will expire after today.

  • how is this model differ from costco? you can get ultra at $110 from costco plus a free nano version.
