What's your Experience with Purchases from Amazon US or UK - Goods Arrived in Good Condition?

Hi

Looking at a few board games to purchase from either Amazon US or UK, however I'm concerned on the condition its going to arrive in.
My purchases in Australia have all arrived without any problems, but some reviews show damaged boxes. I could buy locally but some of the games are massivily cheaper.

The ones I am looking at are fullfilled by Amazon.

Has anyone purchases board games from Amazon US or UK without any problems?

Thanks.

US has always been fine (except for a few that went missing recently which Amazon refunded no questions asked) but UK I find they under pack them eg fragile plastic item placed in an unpadded cardboard mailer which of course arrived with some damage. Amazon of course refunded the item and allowed me to keep it so there's not much risk but more an annoyance.

I've bought from both US and UK no problems, with the exception of local postage issues. I forget which local courier service was used, but they lost one package temporarily (after saying it was delivered when it wasn't) - found it and delivered it the next day. Amazon compensated for me for the inconvenience.

Otherwise all items have been packed as well (for me and my items) as I would expect from the AU store.

I purchased scythe from the US, came with the corner dented so I rang amazon and explained while I understand it doesn't affect the playability that I'd spent $70 with the intention of it sitting in the lounge to play and as such was a bit annoyed the box was damaged. They refunded and let me keep it suggesting I reorder or buy the new outer box for it.

Ordered a $120 laser hair removal thingy from US. Box arrived completely broken. Bits of glass were in the packet and when I opened it up the laserer looked like this. You can see the box below ripped - this is how it arrived. They put the box into a plastic shipping bag and called it job done. No protection at all.

Cost me $30 to ship it back to Nevada but Amazon refunded the shipping costs.

Overall a 2 month waste of time.

    • They put the box into a plastic shipping bag

Same with the Turbografx 16 mini I ordered, yet another order with a DVD was packed in a box wtf.

I have ordered from Amazon US 3 times before, every time has been great, none of my items got damaged in anyway but that said I am surprised how they didnt get damaged due to lack of packaging. They cheaped out and didnt put my item in a box, which the item was the size of a big cube, instead the just wrapped it in plastic! I am grateful that the courier (Fastway) kept it in good shape!

  • Thanks for the feedback. Just purchased a couple of board games from the US, so we see how it arrives next month.

Mostly fine. Had a couple of issues but Amazon were good with refunds or account credits. Fastway were the biggest issue. Dropping a box that weighed a few kilos over a 1.5m fence, which obviously got damaged (was still usable).

I did have a headset arrive from the US which was missing the microphone. They covered the cost of the return shipping to the US.

Ordered splendor 3 months ago from the US - came in a regular Unpadded post bag with no protection so all corners were pretty damaged. Took 7 weeks to arrive. Didn’t follow up with amazon as not intending to resell it and had recently lodged a claim for a missing kitchen aid which never turned up.

Ordered a laptop from the US, arrived relativly quickly and was the best laptop I've ever owned, so im happy with it and the process

  • I think it depends on the warehouse it dispatched from.

My order for WD Hard Drive from Amazon US took a month to arrive and was beaten up to the point where there's no flat side on the box. Also didn't help that they used a large box with no packing material inside…

You shouldn't have anything to worry about. If there is a problem, Amazon's Customer Service will sort it out for you - like many people above have mentioned, they issue refunds no-questions-asked, and are exceptionally understanding & helpful.
