Decent Quality Shaver - Should I Trust Brand or Reviews?

Looking at the Amazon prime deals, there are some pretty tempting shaver deals. I probably don't need a shaver, but Amazon prime has made me realise I didn't need it so therefore I am getting one.

Two things about me:
1. I am a bloke.
2. Not a hairy one though.
3. I would like to be hairier. :(

Anyway now that we are intimate with each other, I was looking at these two deals:

I am suffering from choice paralysis. On one hand, Philips is a well-known brand and it seems safe to go with them. I've never heard of Renpho before and they could be selling a cheap product. On the other hand, the reviews for Renpho are stunning and sing praises about not underestimating it (which is sort of what I'm doing if I go by brand). Also the 4 adjustable speeds seem pretty cool, but I don't see the point. Any pointers (or better alternatives)?

I don't have anything helpful to contribute to your decision making, but your links both point to the Renpho.

Renpho looks like it'd do the job but I would take some of those Amazon Reviews with a grain of salt, youtube have a few people (sponsored or otherwise) that demonstrate the performance of the Renpho depending on your uses for it so best to check those out first.

Are you wanting a shaver or hair trimmer? The Renpho is a hair trimmer, not the best option for your face.

I don't think either set of clippers will make you hairier haha.
I have some Wahl clippers (like this though not 100% sure they're the same) and they're fine for trimming my beard, but rubbish for clean shaving. Something to keep in mind if you're looking at hair cutting clippers.

    • Ahh, so it's an either or situation. This was helpful, thanks!

Well, you know - I've been in a similar situation and decided to give an unknown brand a try. Unfortunately, if was a mistake and later I found out that they were giving some discounts or coupons for positive feedback (like I've seen previously on ali or other chinese re-seller). Be careful. You might get a cheap-ish product in the result.

I'd twice that you should take a look on youtube, since you will see the results and performance as it is. But be careful with ambassadors as well.

Back to the topic, my boyfriend and I used a Phillips for years and it was OK. I still have my epilator since 2007 and use it, but it doesn't hold a charge like it used to. BF uses a slightly different multigroom device, Series 7000 (these guys have covered this topic, but long story short: any Philips shaver with the linear motor will shave you right. Every other electric they've tested - Philips included - is weak).
