Social Loot?

Does anyone know if this actually works? So far ive only earned 75c from 1 click, and I find that unlikely as I got a couple of people to click on the link.

You might wish to give some context:

    http://www.socialloot.com/

Looks like the kind of website that OzBargain needs to be very careful about :) We already have heaps of sockpuppets to fight everyday and now Social Loop shills?!

  • Feels a bit like the pyramid scheme and/or spam at a higher tier!
"Introduce your friends and we will give you a cut of the profit"

But of course, I've never heard of the site can't say if it really works or not!

  • The video was so basic and didn't really explain how one would make profits… lol.. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

  • Feels like a scam. Theyve only given me 1 click so far

    • For a bit of a laugh, they also seem to own the domain name - harrystoysonbotanyrdalexandriasucks dot com

I guess that there is 1 store out there that isn't their favourite!

Same tech admin also registered cash4comment dot com, socialchaching dot com and a bunch of others in a similar tone. Domain name tends to reflect the desired business model?

  • Hi

I represent Social Loot. We are not a scam.

The way it works is simple. We have over 700 Australian businesses so far that have signed up and are prepared to pay referral fees to average people. Basically, you promote any of our businesses of your choice and if you friends on facebook, twitter, blogs, email etc click the link you earn money.

Each partner company sets what they are prepared to pay per referral on average and we make this known to you before you post anything.

Then as your friends click, we tally up the numbers and when you reach $50, we pay you.

It is very important to know that we also have a lot of fraud protection measures in place to protect our partner businesses (who are paying for genuine referrals). So, for example, if you click your own link 100 times, that will show up as one click, which I trust you would agree is fair.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask - we are very transparent on how our system works and have nothing to hide.

    • Hi socialloot,

While it's a great concept and good that you have some protection for your merchants/advertisers as well as no-spam policy, however any sort of referral scheme can be potentially unpopular here at OzBargain. If someone post a link — how can I be sure that your member has actually used the services there and is recommending them? Or just wants to get some referral commission?

      All the best.

      • Hi Scotty,

Whilst it is true that a user may make a post about a business that they have not used, they are doing that to their friends who they have to see/speak to again so it is not a common occurance.

We also have a very complex algorithm that runs in the back ground to weed these people off the system very quickly. In summary, we analyse how many posts a user makes (if these posts cross over to many different categories), how many clicks each post gets (how many of the clicks are duplicate or fraudlulent), we look at how the traffic they generate interacts with our partner businesses (ie: are they there for a second or a few minutes, do they buy etc). All this helps us determine if the member is using the system genuinely or just trying to make a quick buck.

Now based on the info we 'learn', we offer more money per referral to the good guys and less money to the not so good guys and completely suspend the dodgy ones.

Our aim is to develop a genuine, honest referral program that benefits both our members and our partner businesses.

        Regards
        Social Loot

my account was suspended, how can i control if same person click the ads, how do i know who click the ads on my facebook. for me socialoot is a scam.
just beware, initially they offer you higher click, you might get $1-2 / click, after certain time the value of the ads drop to 5 cent to 20 cents only.
i guess they just suspend my account because my balance is close to the minimum payout. scam scam scam

    • Thats interesting - and a good point about not knowing who clicks and when - I've tried to chase up payment with them over the last couple of days and have no reply.
It looks like they are happy for you to place ads for them but unwilling to pay once you reach the threshold, which is very high to begin with…
      Definitely avoid!

I was actually paid closed to $400 for a few months but since then, they have closed down my account for no reason. They simply said that there are fraudulent clicks in my account. When I asked them what fraudulent clicks, they couldn't answer me. If they can pay me close to $400, what fraudulent clicks do they mean? Feels contradicting for their side. In fact, I realised that once you reached the $70 earned, they will simply suspend you and you have to query them. I did ask my facebook and twitter followers if they have been clicking non-stop but all of them indicated that it would be a waste of time clicking more than once on their ads. So in short, socialloot is a scam who refuses to pay up and suspend people's account. I pity those companies joining them as I doubt they know the true colors of socialloot. These companies will definitely pay socialloot but not knowing that socialloot did not pay to the end users. All those terms and conditions listed on socialloot are just child's play.
