Best Hairdressing Pathway

Hi All,

Partner is looking at getting into hairdressing and is looking at doing it at TAFESA. Does anyone know of any other alternate institutions that offer Cert 3?

She is 24, so salons wont be taking her on as an apprentice as she will cost them too much.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance OzB

  • Can she afford a private hairdressing college? If there is such a thing.

  • I used to get really cheap haircuts ($10 at melb cbd, behind melb central, for the typical shave side and shorten everywhere else) from random Asian hairsalons. The result really varied from really bad to good. None of them seemed to have much experience either (sometimes they would take close to 20-25 minutes for a $10 haircut).

I'm sure they would take any random lady who wants to get paid $5 an hour or something if you are interested in gaining experience. Probably need to be able to speak their language though.

    GOOGLE

    • have googled, was hoping someone on OzB would have personally done one or know somethung that isnt available on google

      • If its not on google, either 1. its very exclusive, they don't need to advertise, out of average Joes price range or for rich people. Or 2. No one knows about it because its a pump and dump crap 'school'.

Well, if you just google your title Hairdressing Pathway

  • I had a friend who did a course through Toni & Guy, not sure if they do them anymore.

  • OP, does she cut your hair, as a way to practice?

    • nah my best mate is a barber

      • My best mate is also my barber, my best mate is also my wife.
