Do I Need to Pay to Change My Domain Details? What's Your Best Domain Name Provider for .AU?

Hey all, I have a .com.au domain with namecheap. I wanted to update the email on the contact details but Namecheap mentioned that I would have to pay $40 just to change the email address. According to them its akin to changing registrants (as stated by AuDA).

May I ask if this is really the case? Also, may I ask if there is a domain name reseller you would recommend?

    • Yes, just transfer to Zuver. If you ever need to update your ABN for example, all the other registrars will rip you off by charging exorbitant fee.

      • Thank you @bdl and @leiiv - i'll look up Zuver and maybe give it a try

  • I'm able to change both the whois and account email on both my Domain Providers for .com.au domains.

Perhaps they're confused with a domain transfer?

    • No, they made me wait for an hour and then told me that. I double confirmed it and they said their provider eNom charges that amount.

You are better off transfering to another registrar and using the updated details when submitting the transfer

    • Ok, good point - I'm shocked because namecheap is one of the best domain registrars for general domains but then their .com.au services really suck. I also had to wait an hour on the chat being told to hold until I was told that i'd have to pay to just change the email address.
